Cameron Stephenson Out Of Football For Over A Year Now

I already talked to TTF about this, and he agreed to start a subforum for Marvin Philip.

 

What is the deal with this thread, was this some drunken Iron City 3am rant?

 

It was a knock on the thread (and many threads and posts over the years) bashing Dennis Dixon. Stephenson and Dixon were both taken #156, only a year apart. Everyone knows Cameron just didn't work out because he wasn't good enough, dusted their hands and said, "Eh, he was a 5th round pick" and called it a day. Those same people are upset that Dixon didn't turn around and earn us a 1st round pick in a trade or something. It's ridiculous. The man was a 5th round pick, barely saw the field, and when he did he either won or almost won, and played what I'd consider to be very good for someone with no NFL game experience. Okay, he didn't work out, he's gone, but he did a lot better than some other guys taken in the 5th that year and every year. It's no big deal and it was worth a shot.

 

I can agree with that. I would say Dixon was a successful pick.

I would think that after putting all that time into developing him that they would have wanted him to stay and become the eventual #2 though, but they never seemed comfortable making him the #2. Batch and Leftwich were always above him. Other teams would make him a #2, but I think the Steelers just like proven long time veterans more.
