I see a restructure coming

 

$16MM + 6MM in bonus money for cap accounting. Given the Steelers are already at $250MM in 2024 and the 2023 cap was $225MM, they're going to need to move some money around.

Depending on whether Heyward feels he has more left after 2024, they'll likely push off most of the $16MM to an extension containing mostly void years. It's a kick-the-can maneuver, but can work if the timing with other high dollar contracts is right.

Whatever the case, a 7% increase in salary cap yields ~$243MM in 2024. So they'll need to shed $15-$20MM just to sign draftees and have a buffer for in-season injury signings.

 

Leal must have done something right. Henry didn't do a hell of a lot and he was a part of that front 7 that was limiting what King Henry was able to do.
