Missed the game tonight, but heard he went down with an injury?
    Anyone know the extent?

    Nothing from Tomlin...

Granted, he was wearing a boot. More than likely a grade 2 ankle sprain if I had to guess. If not that, I have not the foggiest.

    UPDATE:

Early reports suggest it is a high ankle sprain....

Not good if true. Out possibly 6 weeks.

I just read it was high ankle sprain too, but Cam said he expects to be there for game 1, but that`s just his hopeful talk IMO.

NEW ORLEANS – The third preseason game long has been the most significant in the NFL as starters see their most extensive playing time before the regular season.

It can be significant for many reasons, some of which the Steelers discovered again Friday night.

Offensive stars Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell looked in tip-top form in their only preseason

appearance so far, but another significant event occurred when defensive end Cam Heyward was carted into the locker room with a high right ankle sprain. The Steelers also lost tackle Marcus Gilbert to a left elbow injury.

Both significant players, though, might be ready for the Sept. 12 opener at the Washington Redskins.

“I’ll be there Week 1,’’ Heyward declared, his right foot encased in a protective boot.

And coach Mike Tomlin said Gilbert’s injury was not serious, although the tackle left the locker room with his arm in a sling.

I'm guessing high ankle sprain. Could be 4 weeks. Maybe less maybe more. Not a guy you want missing for our defense, that's for sure.
Cam's a tough guy, maybe he'll be back week one. But no sense to rush him back, if he's not 100%.

Anything that isn't season ending is a positive for me. I'm relieved he can still play.

A great test for both Dupree and Jones; the entire defense no less.

Time to grow up.. and adversity will only accelerate it.

The true leader of the Defense. Watch Tuitt take charge. Beast. And The Gravedigger is the upgrade at Nose we have been waiting for. Let's hope he is not out for more then two games.

I like Tuitt.. I think Heyward is better than him...
I think if Cam left with a cast on his leg, it could be the dreaded "high ankle sprain"...
He can say whatever he wants about the severity of the injury, and, I do believe he will be back on the field asap,
but, IMHO, this is bad news...
We don`t have anyone as good as him, and who will be his replacement?
If It`s Tuitt, we just lost lost"depth", and "rotational" players...

We dont have much proven skills in our D-backfield,...

Rushing the passer, and stopping the run, are going to be important...

Heyward has proven he can do both, and, fire up the guys on the back end, since he`s been here.

I want him back as soon as possible...

But "High ankle sprains" can linger, no matter how hard he works, or wants to get back...

Rest him, and hope we get him back sooner than later!!!:yeehaw:

Cam is the Leader of this Defense. He is the complete DE. But Tuitt is not far behind. Their is no replacing just maintaining until he gets back on the field.
Their is no good time for an injury, but, at least this didn't happen midseason or on the stretch run. If it is a high ankle I can see him missing at least 3 games hopefully just 2.

To me Cam is #3 on the list of players we can't do without after only Ben and AB.

    Get well soon Cam :beg:

Certainly wouldn't hurt to try it a few rotations.
