Seeing him carry out the flag- and then watching him destroy the Raiders all night- reminded me again of the real greatness of our 97. I doubt I've appreciated him as much as I should, but he's really earned a place as one of the all time greats of this franchise, on and off the field. As much as anyone ever has, he reminds me of the players of the 70s teams of my youth.

We have a core of 25-26 year old guys. Sure wish Cam was in that group.

Yes I agree, I was personally hard on him thinking he was overrated because he seemed to always gas out in the 2nd half, but he's been elevating his play and I had to recognize he couldn't do it alone every game. When the offense doesn't completely **** the bed with ungodly number of 3 and outs he has the gas for the game and frankly outplays many of our younger players. Guy has heart and I truly believe he understood the significance of the game with the legends in house watching. He played like it was the Super Bowl!!

I can believe Big Bro has been aiding him over the years in the football knowledge to know not to go out of bounds and to slide down to ensure he did not fumble.

I don't know if they read some of the things said about the defense regressing or what.
The Raiders are not world beaters, but they were kind of on a roll.

    Shutting Jacobs down was great.
    And Heyward is a star.

I searched to find this post rather than start a new thread. Cam Heyward is definitely one of those once in a generational favorite kind of guys you wish you had on every team. I think back to Jerome Bettis how he was both on and off the field and Cam definitely falls into that category. He is not only representative of the Steelers, but of the city of Pittsburgh. I'm glad he is a Pittsburgh Steeler and hopefully we do have him another year or two.

Agreed, I for one underestimated him and thought at times he was overrated because the defense seemingly gassed out int he 2nd half. He was trying to do it all and now. If we can add another excellent Defensive lineman with him just perhaps we could make an improbable run in the next two years but that will be a lot of tread wear on him. His contract needs to be reworked and sometimes the Steelers can seem very cold when dealing with players towards the end of their careers. I hope they can work something out. Leadership he provides his huge on what it means to be a Steeler!!
