I think it was Lavarr Arrington who said he knew Caleb's dad. who said this. Guy is a businessman and fairly successful. I do not think it is the Ball family situation, and even then he should probably keep his mouth shut, but just trying to keep his son's name in the news.

I could see the foolish owner trying to get him to play with giving him the option on who to pick 2nd. I doubt it would happen, but when owners get giddy stupid things happen. Make the kid think he is driving the franchise, then see it crash right in front of you.

That makes sense I guess but I'm pretty sure there will be enough hype around this kid without creating any

Caleb had a great answer when asked about it, I'm preparing for Stanford this week. IDK if he knew dad was doing to say/do this, but sounds like he is saying hey dad stfu. lol

I agree but you have to think of your own career. Look at the kid from the Jets, he was taken #2 overall. They put him on the field with nothing around him then called him a bust. If you replace him with Brock Purdy then he would be a bust too. If you are going #1 and are going to an empty vessel, you have to think about options. He is making more from Wendy’s than he will make is first year anyway.

I agree somewhat with this. I think there are very few coaches across the league who know how to properly develop a quarterback. Shanahan is one of them. Canada and Tomlin are not!

Keep in mind Shanahan dialed up probably the worst SB collapse in history and probably the worst collapse in any sport losing that game against Brady.

Didn't Shanahan also have his offense up 35-3 or something like that in that game? The defense lost that game for Atlanta.

I know, but I can’t find much fault with an OC that gets his team out to a 4+ TD lead and then the defense blows it.

I agree, but that defensive coordinator is the guy that has put the unit together in Dallas and they look pretty dam good. Tomlin said “Any defense that stays on the grass will die on the vine”. That’s the story of the Falcons SB.

What killed the Falcons was they kept passing and killing the clock. They were snapping the ball with 25 seconds left on the play clock with a gigantic lead. They had the game sewn up with around 2 minutes left with a first down at the Patriots 20 yard line with only a FG needed to ice the game. Except Shanahan called 3 straight passes, a 10 yard sack, an incompletion and a holding call that knocked them out of FG range. The Falcons had to punt, Brady marched down the field and tied the game to send it to overtime.

You are completely accurate, they were running the ball very well the whole game then decided to run up some passing yards for Ryan so he could get the MVP. Dumb!! A good defense is an effective offense with the clock at the end.
