I don't think the team can stress about it at this point, and as I have read the rules, I now want to change my opinion. I think Heath stays on the PUP list for the first 6 games unless he is going to be ready to go say in the first 2-3 weeks of the year. If he is going to miss 5 games, you might as well just keep him on the list and move forward with someone else for 1 more week. I put him on the roster, but I think that spot can be filled with someone else, and at this point I would keep Batch simply because it allows you to still have some depth at the position until Bell is back.

DJ allows you to do some things that I don't think McCoy or Paulson allow you to do. We can go with 2 TEs and have them both be focused on running the ball. You put Palmer and Johnson and Johnson in the game with a large RB, and you should be able to control the LOS pretty well, while I doubt that happens with Paulson in the game due to his blocking deficiencies. I am sort of neutral on the receivers, as much as I like them both and would love to keep them both, I just don't see any way we carry 6 guys on the roster let alone 7. One of them will make it to the PS.

Hawthorne isn't in the tub any more. He reminds me of where we were when Allen was trying to make the team. I think Hawthorne has potential, so if he can contribute on special teams over the next few games, I don't think Lake will want to see him go away. It also wouldn't surprise me if he gets a shot to unseat Victorian. Sometimes I think we look at the depth chart too much and read too much into it. I see very little difference in Brown, Victorian, and Hawthorne personally when you realize they all will probably be only special team contributors unless we have injuries this year since we are using Shamarko and Golden as nickel and dime guys.

When it comes to DCS vs. Dunn the team must make a choice. I don't think DCS will play in the defense unless we go to Denver or the unthinkable happens again to that other guy back there and he can't stay healthy. DCS will play Special Team Cover Units though. Dunn pretty much only contributes in 2 ways...kick off returns and punt returns. Can he make a large enough impact in those 2 areas to justify keeping him around? When I look at the stats and realize that if one of our current safeties got hurt, that DCS can help me there, but Dunn pretty much doesn't help me anywhere else, and then combine that he would take up a jersey on game day....I just don't see it.
