After watching 2 pre-season games and only using what we've seen thru camp and these two games- IF the cuts were to happen today, I built my 53 man roster & PS and I know many of you will disagree on some decisions I've made.

    Offense- 25

QB- (3)- .. Big Ben - Bruce Gradkowski - John Parker Wilson
*notes* Landry has made one good pass and is a 4th rd draftee so the Steelers will keep him- I disagree

    RB-(4)- .. Bell, Dwyer, Redman, LaRon Stephen-Howling

    FB-(1)- Wil Johnson

    TE-(3)- Paulson,McCoy, Michael Palmer

WR-(6)- A. Brown- Sanders- Wheaton- Cotchery- Justin Brown- Derek Moye

    OL-(8)- Adams-Foster-Pouncey-DeCastro-Gilbert-Beachum-Malecki- Joe Long
*note* Joe Long is here only as long as it takes to find another OL either thru the waiver wire or FA then off to the PS

    DEFENSE- 25

    DL-(6) Hood-McLendon-Keisel-Woods-Heyward-Ta'amu

LB-(9) Woodley, Timmons, Foote, Worilds, Jarvis Jones, Adrian Robinson, McFadden, Brian Rolle, Kion Wilson

CB-(5) Taylor, Allen, C. Brown, W.Gay, Josh Victorian

    S-(5)- Troy, Clark, S. Thomas, Cromartie-Smith, R. Golden

    ST-(3) LS Warren, K Suisham, P Butler

PS-(8) J.D.Woods(wr), Alvester Alexander (RB) , Joe Long (OT) Brian Arnfelt (DE) Terry Hawthorne (CB) Alan Baxter(OLB) Vince Williams(ILB) Golic Jr. (OG)

    IR- Plax
    IR to return- Heath Miller
PUP Matt Spaeth -- Sean Spence/after 6 wks move to IR

Commentary- Carter and Sylvester are out at LB. Time to move on as they've had enough time to develop. Time to give some younger hungry talented guys a shot.
    - Landry Jones has shown nothing, he was bad vs. Washington, again, and last year showed the #3 QB can be called upon. I'd rather have the Better more experienced JPW or a Vet FA. wasted pick(s)
-We only have 7 OL worth keeping-FA Vet or waiver is where we need to get 8th OL.
-Why waste a roster spot on Heath-he won't be back to old self before wk 10 anyways.

Here it is, What do you think? Remember, as always, be kind.

I think your being a little hard on Landry Jones, he played better last night than the previous game. If you listen to Gruden, Gruden seemed to think that he isn't used to getting into a huddle and really having to read a defense. Give him some time, way too early to give up on Landry Jones, sometimes you never know he might develop, plus he had a couple of drops by recievers and the line play was terrible, he was running around a lot.

I like it..but I still cannot believe we drafted Landry Jones over a cornerback or a safety in that round..does anyone remember who was available at that time? I cannot remember from the top of my head.

Landry looked a little lost, and his mechanics looked a little messed up last night too.

Yeah Landry pick seems really bad to me. I mean if it was a 7th round pick, I'm not worried, but he was a 4th.

I didn't realize this, but last night they said he didn't read defenses at all in college. All reads and calls came from the sideline for him. That sounds like a huge developmental player to me, and a huge risk. And in the 4th round I would be really wary.

There is zero chance JPW makes it over Landry. You can disagree but they won't throw away a 4th round draft pick before giving him a chance to develop, they kept Dixon for 3 or 4 seasons for crying out loud. Besides that, JPW has done nothing to win the spot, why would they just hand it to him. Landry performed better then you are giving him credit for last night, hell, hes the only one to lead this offense for a TD so far. And this is coming from someone who didn't want to draft a QB there.

The only other thing I disagree with is Moye, Woods will beat him out.

JPW can't scramble for ****; remember, he had 4 sacks in the the 1st game alone in just under 1 quarter's worth of playing time. L.Jones got his 1st and only sack last night; so that's 1 sack total in close to 3 quarters of playing time.

I agree on not wasting a roster spot on Heath. In fact I would be tempted to add Spaeth and Bell both to IR depending on how they do or don't progress.

I'm still not convinced yet that Cotchery is worth a roster spot, 1 reception out of 2 targets for only 5 yds total, in 2 games doesn't quite cut the mustard for me.

Everything else looks ok. Who do you think will be returning punts/kickoffs?

Landry went 9-22 for 111yds. He had one pass to Wheaton for 45 yds. remove that one pass and his poor showing becomes terrible. It would put him 8-21-66yds. That's 3YPA and 38% comp. Add to that he looked lost and confused. He missed open receivers bad and should have been picked off I know twice. Still you're right, no-way the steelers cut him. They would rather waste 3 yrs in trying to develop him instead of admitting a mistake in drafting him in the 1st place.

I like JD Woods. I think he'll be a WR here next year when Cotchery and Sanders are gone. I think right now, Moye and his 6'5" frame and good hands are a better fit.

You can't take away that pass.. That makes no sense. Plus he had some drops. Jones played well last night.

Why Sylvester over Rolle? I like how Kion is playing but v.williams was drafted.

Sylvester is working at OLB also. I think it gives them more flexibility with other roster spots. Rolle has played well but if Sly can play in and out he becomes more valuable to the club IMO.

Leave that play in and he STILL Sucks!!

If you think he played well last night I hate to see what mediocre or bad looks like.

I just knew you were gonna say Sly was good on ST.

I know they were gonna give him some work at OLB but it hasn't happened so how good he is there is unknown. I'm keeping 5 ILB because Foote should be gone next year

I just think Sly can do more things and that will appeal to the coaching staff. Even though I didn't mention it you're right, Sly is a valuable member of the ST's.. God knows we need the help there.

He did improve from game 1 to game 2 though, even if you think he played poorly. That alone is reason to keep him around IMO. He's displayed that he's getting better and deserves the chance to be the 3rd QB.. JPW has done zippo.

There's no way Jones goes and JPW stays. Mark it.

First time poster here so hello all!
I see no chance of JPW making the team over a 4th rd rookie QB in which we have only seen 2 games of limited action.
    Woods makes it over Moye.
I honestly cannot make anything of the TE's, they are nothing special.
I will say I fully believe we could have had Landy Jones in the 6th or 7th rd easily.

Why? Because he's better or his draft status?

Easy, just replay JPW's 4-sack performance in the Giants game.

JWP went 4-5 for 35 yds. That's 7.0 YPA and 80% comp. and this behind the worse line ever assembled on a football field.
Put him in with the ones and watch what happens, gotta be better than anything Jones can do.

I struggled with this one. I like both, Kion for how he's playing and Williams for his upside. I almost went with 10 LBers ( keeping Williams ) and only 4 safeties cutting Cromartie-Smith.

After sacks, that also translates into 13 total net passing yards for JPW vs L.Jones 48 net passing yards in that Giant game. LOL
