Gerald Hodges would be a nice get as well. He visited the Chiefs today.

I wondered about him earlier. His came continues to improve too but does he have the speed to pair up with Shazier to really benefit having him?

Gonna miss hi like we all will, but every dog has his day and he's had his fair share. Not sure about Spence coming back... Not opposed, just don't know about the gain if any it would bring. Loved him and his story, but that injury robbed him and the fact that he'd even be available to come back says as much.

Agreed, Didn`t they take some guy named Wallace from us a few years ago?
And make Ndmakong Suh the highest paid D-Lineman at the time...???

I know the spelling is wrong on Suh, but that doesn`t change the fact that you have to question their judgement...

The part that bothers me, is if they weren't so stupid with their contract money, we might have been able to keep Timmons...

I still think he had a few good years to give us, but I don`t blame him for taking the stupid money contract...

He actually had a great year for us last season, even if he has "lost a step"...

I`m not disputing that he did, but he`s still a damn good LB, and I would have liked to see him on our roster in 2017...

They overpaid, so, now we don`t.

    GO STEELERS!:steelflag:

Just for reference and given that everyone should agree that Timmons has lost a step since being drafted and his heyday.

    Timmons: 73" 234lbs
    40 Yard Dash: 4.66 seconds
    20 Yard Dash: 2.68 seconds
    10 Yard Dash: 1.50 seconds
Bench Press: 25 reps (225 lb)
    Wonderlic: (N/A) (0-50)
    Vertical Leap: 35.0 inches
    Broad Jump: 123 inches
    20 Yd Shuttle: 4.32 seconds
    Three Cone: 6.92 seconds
    60 Yd Shuttle: (N/A) seconds

    Matakevich: 72" 238lbs
    40 Yard Dash: 4.81 seconds
    20 Yard Dash: 2.80 seconds
    10 Yard Dash: 1.66 seconds
Bench Press: 22 reps (225 lb)
    Wonderlic: (N/A) (0-50)
    Vertical Leap: 31.0 inches
    Broad Jump: 112 inches
    20 Yd Shuttle: 4.50 seconds
    Three Cone: 7.19 seconds
    60 Yd Shuttle: (N/A) seconds

    Vince Williams: 73 233lbs
(Pro day numbers) No combine numbers
    40 Yrd Dash:
    4.76
    20 Yrd Dash: 2.76
    10 Yrd Dash: 1.71 225 Lb. Bench Reps: 22
    Vertical Jump: 32 1/2
    Broad Jump: 09'03"
    20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.67
    3-Cone Drill: 7.53
    40 Time Range: 4.76-4.82

You're talking hundreds of a second in the 40 times and looks like Tyler got his 3 cone down to the same in his pro day...

If these guys can read and diagnose the plays as as good as Timmons, the team should be fine. They're really close in everything although Timmons was a bit better of an athlete for what it's worth.

thank you miami for taking another one off of our hands. He was a good one , but not now he can't cover like he used to and it's killing us.

He will fit just fine in the Miami D as I stated their D will require him to play the run or guard the TE most of the time he will be a solid player in that scheme...His zone blitz days have been gone for 2 or 3 seasons...

Just gonna throw this out there, in relation to Timmons's contract...

Pitcher Charlie Morton (yes, THAT Charlie Morton) signed a 2-year, $14 mill. deal with the Astros. He has a career record of 46-71, with a 4.54 era.

This is what happens when salary caps aren't in place. As bad as this move is for Miami, I can only think how bad it would be without a cap in the NFL.

I'm fine with this as long as he doesn't pick Ben off in his first game back at Heinz like Joey did. LOL!

I hate that we lost him and am also surprised he went to Miami since he seems to lose his lunch when playing in the heat. They better have the mop ready each time he takes the field in that heat.

Well I'm 2 for 2 on Timmons and Wheaton. I liked Timmons but was never a huge fan. I think he stuck out and played above average maybe 2 games last season. Crazy to think all the picks on linebackers and we are talking about being thin and relying on Deebo.

For me, Rod Woodosn's HOF induction request resonated with me more. Stated something about wanting to retire as a Steeler if I recall.

They didn't sign him to cover, they ranked 30 against the run in 2016 and timmons is that run stopper they badly needed..

Ouch, this is the big loss this go around. William's is powerful but is he quick enough and healthy enough to ball? In a larger sense the real loss is in leadership and stability.

Steelers were not going to go that high for him.

I always wished they made Timmons a sack specialist. Big, strong fast as light. He did great as requested but, he could have been a HOF for sacks alone.

Not reAlly, he was tried a handful of times at the outside and it wasn't always pretty... Though he picked up some here and there in that assignment. He played right where he was needed and right where he was best suited for our team.

Yup, the experiment with him at OLB didn't work for him. Not only that, but they wasted some of his best years with him calling the defense. Just didn't fit him well at all. He wasn't able to do that and play half as good as he could.

I think it's the same for Jarvis if you think about it. He's a lot faster than he looks like he plays at OLB might be better if they slide him inside, but they already have their inside guys mostly fleshed out, with maybe a late round draft pick in there.

I really think Dirty Red if he's half as smart as they say he is with a year under his belt, might just surprise people with his maturity. The awards he won, have a really good track record in the NFL.

It is sad to see him go but I know it was time. Since day one there were lots of people that didn't like Timmons but imo he was very solid. I know his speed the last year or two has played into this decision and rightfully so, I wish him the best. I am not sure Williams will be able to man this position but who knows. Also there wasn't a bigger Matakevich fan pre draft than me but I am worried about his speed/coverage ability as well. I am hoping for TM to be able to step up but I won't bank our season on it. I will say I am a little worried right now about our ILB position but let's see what happens.

Agree, Timmon's wasn't one of the brightest when it came to calling the defense. He did loose a step or two in coverage. However one thing you got to give him credit for, he rarely got hurt and missed very few games playing a tough position, I did admire his durability.
