The problem with attacking the gap instead of tracking the ball is that you get swallowed up by the blocking and the running back simply cuts back into the wide open hole you just created by guessing instead of knowing where the ball carrier is going. Yes by all means if the communication is good then attack the gap and allow the trailing ILB or safety to flow to the ball and make the play but it just isn't happening. Heck Bush and Edmunds ran into each other trying to fill the same gap and the running back waved at them as he got a clean lane to run in.

 

I misread the figures. Actually, OverTheCap has a more accurate figure, a little over $10 Million as you stated. Regardless, the fact of the matter is that, I believe you and me agree that Bush has not played particularly well.



Again though, this all reverts back to what I had stated about him during the Off Season; mental recovery will be just as critical for him as physical. If anything, the physical ailment was not a major concern for me. The mental aspect was... and is now on display.



Overall though, my point about why it is unlikely that Bush may not get his option picked up had less to do with money but more about performance. As you stated, quite a bit of Free Agents might have to be signed onto the team in the coming years but even that aspect of building a roster has its own fair share of challenges; that potential suitors team alone being only the tip of the iceberg. Devin Bush though has not made this any easier.
