Burns in press

I was thinking why don't we try Burns in press coverage. He is strong and athletic and to me his problem seems to come from making decisions in space.

Put him tight get a jam and take extra thinking out of it. That's your guy Artie stick with him like glue.

 

You could be on to something. Seems like he gets lost when it comes to covering or passing his man off. Or, maybe he really is as bad as some are coming him to believe. I'm still out on where I stand, but I would love to see him "get it"!

 

I agree. Let Burns use his body without having to use his brain cell. Yes, singular.

 

Straight from my thread regarding my issues with Keith Butler:


"Artie Burns, who was lauded for his press man coverage capabilities heading into the draft, has mainly played off zone coverages or off man. When he is in off man, it is his job to properly showcase his talents. While he has not done that thus far this season, how is he going to do said task when he is put into unwinnable situations? Press man on Mike Evans and Tyreek Hill? Not a good idea. Press man on a player like Jarvis Landry, Sammy Watkins or Chris Godwin (even though he was not assigned to do that), those prospects are much better."
