Is the league argument going to be that he sort-of missed? Sorry, but that's crap. It was a blow to the head on a defenseless player. Given his history, there is no excuse at all for not punishing Burfict.

If your the Rooneys don't you have to speak up? If he would of knocked one of our players like AB out of action indefinitely and it hurts their franchises chances of making a playoff run. Can you sit back and do nothing? They gave that A hole his job as commissioner and he's done nothing but screw us ever since. I don't get as a owner how your not livid. I know I would be....

He'll be suspended by the time we play them again. One more blatant attempt to injure I think they come down hard...

If they think he deserves fines that big then with his history it makes no sense that he didn't get a suspension.

Well said and I couldn't agree more. I think the referee should announce when a player is in concussion protocol just like they announce a penalty, so there's no confusion.
I do want to point out that during that Steelers/Dolphins playoff game Matt Moore did sit out one play and was checked out by an NFL doctor on the sideline before he returned.

I thought there was a time-out so he didn't miss a play, but I'll defer if you are sure.

He was checked by a doctor, but it was extremely quick. If I remember correctly, the league did rule that the Dolphins failed to follow the protocol properly in that case.

I just checked to make sure. From sbnation.com:
"Moore went to the sidelines to go through the NFL’s concussion protocol, passed it, and returned to the game after just one play. Backup quarterback T.J. Yates filled in for him on that play."

I don't think Moore even went under the tent.
I remember thinking another backup QB was going to come in and poke holes in the Steelers defense.

I don't disagree with anything you said. Helmet to helmet hits aren't just inconsistent in the NFL, they are in college right now as well. Only defensive players are held responsible for those hits where the offensive players can do it and nothing is done. In the PSU game over the weekend a defensive player was ejected for targeting when he lowered his head to make the hit while the offensive player was still upright. The offensive player then lowered his head causing the contact but only the defensive player was punished.

However, I still the league has to worry about getting too strict in which hits are legal and which ones are not. Maybe that is why you see some of the inconsistency. Burfict however should be gone and I see that they did finally fine him. With a guy like him though, with all the repeated offenses, he should be indefinitely suspended. You wont get an argument about that from me.

The NFL should be holding its officials to a higher standard than those in college football. This is the highest level with a hell of a lot fewer games to officiate each week.
