Praying that this is his last year in Pittsburgh. Dud isn't worth 3mil let alone 9mil.

I believe they still have the opportunity to extend him?

I wouldn't extend him. Four years in, and he's consistently been a subpar starter. We've already committed to $8 million over 2 years to Chickillo to be a backup. To me, the only sensible reason for the $9 million salary this year is for him to be a 1 year bridge to a guy who is drafted this year or next. If we extend long-term him at starter pay, I will really have a loss of confidence in Colbert & co.

Yeah could be a tough call on whether to extend him or not. It may be worth it to get the cap space.

An interesring move for certain. Extending him would assist the cap but he would not be worth the extension. A difficult decision going forward indeed.

The right decision IMO would have been to try to trade him for any draft pick we can get, and if that failed, cut him before the dollars became fully guaranteed.

Well.. if that were the case, that alters the draft strategy greatly then for Pittsburgh. It is bad enough we do not have an inside linebacker. Adding a pass rusher into the equation? That would definitely make things intriguing if nothing else come April 25th.

I think resigning punter Jordan Berry to 2 years beats this one

You guys getting upset about something like this is about on par with getting upset that the seats look empty at home games.

For the sake of argument let's say he was cut prior to today, team saves 9 million but it leaves Ola and Chick as the only two guys on the roster besides Watt. So some where between 9 and 12 million to replace him with a threat off the edge. Who are you targeting ?

OK on what terms? Do they have the space to court him? I honestly believe they are going to target a vet on one year deal for a bargain basement price selling the franchise history as a reason for an average offer.

I think Bud at 9 million IS their one year vet deal. At least I hope that’s the case, and not that Bud gets extended as a starter.

I think Shaq can be signed for 3-4 years at $6-8 million average with maybe $6-10 million guaranteed. He’s a good player. He’s not a star, but he’s a solid guy to put opposite Watt to play good, technically sound, productive football.

Justin Houston ...starting with Duprees money on a 1 year deal trying to sell the history and the chance at a ring...IMO . We have Watt,Chick,Ola and Adams who they gave a bonus to hang on to. They kept him with the team for 2 years including his rookie season when he was injured. Do they see something or not? Why is he still here? Anybody know what happened to Simon,he still with NE. Too late now anyway...smh.
