One could argue that Cowher should have been fired in 2000 by that logic.

No, because with Cowher there always seemed to be a light at the end of the tunnel. We'd have down years, but it always appeared that he knew how to fix it and get us back on track. That's just not the case with Tomlin. We are a sinking ship and he has no clue how to fix it. We have the same problems we've had for years and there's not a hint of improvement in site

I can't speak for the Browns or Raiders but, since the merger, the Steelers have had 3 head coaches and 6 SB titles. THe Chargers have had, I think, 16 HC' and have 0 SB titles. The revolving HC door doesn't always work any better than retaining your HC.
Like Norv Turner, it could be that Tomlin is a good coordinator but not a good HC.

Yes, a good front 7 helps average corners seem serviceable. But good press corners also help a mediocre front 7 get to the QB. Ever hear of a coverage sack? It is a circular argument. I'm tired of getting castrated by third tier QBs. Mike Glennon?? WTF? Mark my words...Blake Bortles will be a top 5 fantasy QB next week.

A dominating front 7 is a pipe dream. It is also antiquated thinking. We aren't playing in the 70s, 80s, or 90s any more. The game has changed. The NFL is a passing league. Without athletes in the defensive backfield who can play man coverage, you are doomed to see the same horror show we witnessed today over and over and over.

Could we try Shamarko at corner?

Next year, if we don't draft several corners (because we all know we won't spend the money in free agency), I will be calling for Colbert to be burned at the stake.

Love Dick LeBeau, but his scheme is now totally worthless. Hopefully, this is his last year.

    I miss Rod Woodson...sigh.

One thing we saw today is that there is a fine line between who is good and who is not. The Bucs got man-handled last week and then beat the Steelers while the team that man-handled the Bucs, Atlanta got crushed today by the Vikings.

I've been there 10 years and I haven't heard of anyone being fired. Of course, there are 7,000 employees worldwide. We have one woman who just celebrated her 65th year!

You guys need some more help ? lol ...On the 4 real I think we do need some changes ,but I think it should be Colbert then DL and then Coach T ...I think Tomlin has earned another season or 2 ,but I am tired of the FO and DL just needs to enoy the rest of his life,,,,,I just don't want to see his great career muddled by a pee wee Defensive Backfield.

Guess this was directed at me even know I have never specifically said that either. Forgive me for trying to keep this place from turning into an ESPN sewage board. Do you guys realize how unenjoyable you make it for everyone else regurgitating the same whining BS day after day after day?

We get it, you think Tomlin sucks, yay, move on.

this is so funny, because Cowher, now beloved was getting ripped at the time. There was even a website firecoahcowher.com. The bozo either missed the playoffs or lost AFCGs at home.

This revisionist love of Cowher, makes me laugh.

Coach T seems to not ba a great motivator ,I think he gives the players to much freedom ,but I do think he is a winner .I think he deserves a off season or 2 without Colbert...I think Colbert is the problem ,,,,I think we don't have enough talent and I blame Colbert for that just my opinion.....

Yes, it was absolutely directed at you, and why the hell would I move on to another subject when I think our #1 problem is Tomlin? You're out of your mind if you think people aren't going to talk about what they believe plagues the team. You claim you have never tried to shut down Tomlin talk, yet you just did in this very post, and I can guarantee I can find others if I cared enough to look. You can't stand the Tomlin hatred and quite frankly, I don't care that you can't stand it. Close your eyes if you don't want to read it, or ban me, I don't give a **** either way. I'm as loyal a fan as anyone else on earth but I'm sick and tired of this garbage team showing up to play. There's too much damn talent on this team that's being wasted. Teams with an elite QB, one of the best RB's in the game and one of the best WR's in the game don't struggle to score points. We have a combination in Ben, Bell and Brown that most teams would drool over and we're pissing it away. I'm beyond fed up. I've had to put up with this garbage for years now and it's not getting better, it might actually be getting worse. So you'll have to excuse me if I feel the need to complain about what I think is our biggest problem.

Okay, well I wasn't one of them ripping him. I always felt that Cowher knew how to fix our problems and he usually did so before too long. I don't feel the same way about Tomlin. Besides, I'm not claiming that Cowher is one of the greatest coaches of all time, but I do think he's so far ahead of Tomlin it's not even worth discussing

Shaner, your making way too much sense here! With Cowher you knew he would eventually fix it when broke. Not sure this crew nows how to fix it when broke.

How many of us were thinking towards the end of the game with Tampa driving to give Gay and Allen help over the top because they couldn't handle their receivers one on one. How many of us were yelling for Allen don't give the receivers 15 yard cushion when they only need 10 or 11 yards for a first down. Why play Harrison so much when he is not in game shape and Moats doing okay. Why run Bell for 3 or 4 plays in a row and then throw to him also - he is not superman and was too gased to run anymore. Why not spell him more with Blount who was actually running harder because he was fresh. Why not get your speedster Archer some touches or design plays to get him the ball in the open. This goes on and on...

The above along with penalties and undisciplined and coming out Sluggish is all on the coaches. They all coached stupid today unlike last week.

The players are also to blame, like Brown dropping the long pass on the flee flicker. Ben, seeing how his line was playing and not getting rid of the ball and getting sacked. The short punt! This goes on and on..

Steeler nation this has been going on for a while and we come out of the funk for a while like last week but fall right back into it.

For all you that think Tomlin is a great coach and DL is untouchable you need to get you head out of you know what...

Yeah, gee, didn't know that Shaner.

I've never said you're not allowed to talk about this or that, merely stating that its the same repetitive crap. So many things to talk about in that game and low and behold, its all Tomlin!

You're right about one thing, it wont stop.

Do you think it could be Colbert ? Do you think the game has passed DL bye ? Not being a smart butt , but I think both those things have a great chance of being true .....So lets assume for a minute those are both true would you still fire Coach T ?

I've addressed those things in the past. I don't know if its Colbert. He seemed to be great at his job when Cowher was around, but suddenly he sucks. Did Cowher mask his inabilities or is Tomlin bringing him down, or both? I honestly don't know. Do I think the game has passed DL by? I don't know if it's passed him by, but what he's trying to do year in and year out isn't working and isn't going to at this point. Besides, if Tomlin goes, then so should all the coordinators and assistants, unless the new coaching staff want to retain them. DL's job status should be up to the new head coach.
