I guess you missed it when Haley and Tomlin were pretty much talking to each other WITHOUT the headsets prior to that play being sent into Roethlisberger, right?

To think Haley made that call and not Tomlin is asinine.

The call to be conservative came right from the top.

Thanks TTF, because many times its difficult to express my exact feelings, I prefer to do it in Spanish.

LOL! No I didn't get the disdain. I thought you were just more of like the guy that pulls the girls pigtails on the playground but actually you harbor a secret love for her. HA! For the record, I've always despised the guy as well but really did like how he could always own Peyton Manning though. The coach I love to hate is Saban and Petrino. Both are guys that can't play with the big boys but then get labeled "geniuses" and crap like that. I REALLY dislike Saban. I mean BIG TIME! Who cares if he can coach future insurance salesmen. He's no pro and, like Petrino, he will just leave when the going gets tough in the big leagues. I hate the Saban worship.

If AB gets another stupid celebration penalty, Tomlin should make him sit on the bench for a series. The same goes for Bell for taunting sit him down and put Blount in the game, too many bonehead penalties.

I was saying this last night but honestly I was saying that I would sit them even for that stupid 1st down celebration.

MT's the head coach and if he wanted to quell this stuff he very well could. they help the team on one end but kill them on the other. it has to be settled down. benching gets guys attention. I doubt that will happen though.

MT could just as easily say you guys are the leaders of my football team and you are hurting my football team, so cut it out now. you are 2-2 and 8-8 so you can celebrate when you actually help the team win. you are not bigger than MY team. set a winning example first before your individual pats on the back for yourselves. now go win me some football games like the professionals you should be in that black & gold uniform. we win here we don't celebrate losses, nor individuals. make it so.:stogie::cool:

The 1st down celebration is frickin' annoying anymore. I noticed it against Baltimore...not that we saw it that many times that night

I would agree. Is Bell going to signal first down every single time he gets a first down in his entire career???!!! I worry about him tearing his rotator cuff actually.

These celebrations everyone is complaining abt don't really bother me. Just tell's me they are having fun. What does bother me is the refs throwing flags on it more than not.. i would rather have a hand full of players shoing a lil bit of emotion, than a bunch of mindless drones that line up and run the play.. the NFL really needs to pull the stick out of there @SS

Bell didn't get the penalty for signaling 1st down, he got it afterwards when three Bucs players were jawing at him and he got caught barking back. Personally I am surprised he showed restraint since the guy that tackled him was trying to hold him down after the whistle and he had to struggle to get free so he could signal 1st down. I have no problem with signaling it, Hines did it all the time let Bell but again if the refs are going to penalize for taunting then get them both.

That's the problem I had with his penalty. He was actually walking away when they Bucs players were walking after him barking and bumped him when he turned around and said something the official thought warranted an unsportsmanlike call....Get them both if you're going to call that especially since you had to have seen the whole thing!

I have been trying to think of the last time I got this mad about a game and I think it's the 1999 home loss to the brand new 1-8 Browns. Back then, it wasn't the defense that stunk. It was the offense with Kordell Stewart throwing to the great receiving corp of Troy Edwards, Courtney Hawkins, Malcolm Johnson and Bobby Shaw.

I wonder how Stewart felt when Cowher said on the pregame a couple weeks ago that he never had a QB until Roethlisberger

I've heard that Stewart once said that Ben was overrated so maybe Bill just wanted to get a little jab back at him. Kordell has a special place in my heart so it is hard for me to hate on the guy too bad. That's still funny that Bill said that though.

I've heard the same. Dan basically told Cowher, "we are drafting Roethlisberger, deal with it!"

Does anybody know who Cowher wanted? I've probably heard but can't remember...

Yes - that penalty kind of set the unsavoury tone of the game for me. It was a penalty that didn't make sense - it was clear on the replay the guy was holding him down, and that it was a two-way thing at the least.

But at the same time, I just don't see how a player can get dragged into that stuff. Act like you've been there before. That's why Hines' smiling was so good - it wound the defense up chronically, but he was never actually doing anything wrong - just smiling at them.

Neil O'Donnell would have a more legitimate beef with it ... and they both need to stfu.

No... if the pattern holds, next week will be a good week. Best to get an extra early start on the post game thread for the Cleveland game. We'll beat the Jags, get puffed up and cocky, and then BOOM.
