Cubs will win it all as long as they keep Steve Bartman in another state.

I have no idea who will win this thing but I do feel the winner will come out of the National League.

3 teams that I hope win it:

    Cubs
    KC
    LAD

I imagined that when he talked to him he sort of encouraged him with like a cliched 80's movie line that a nerdy kid's friend would say to him after an encounter with a bully where he would pat him on the back and say "Let's just go man...he's not worth it..." LOL!

Yeah I died laughing at that when he beats down the cooler and then Little Mac is revealed to be Sean Rodriguez. LOL!!!

IF the Cubbies go down I'm tempted to root for either the Royals or the Rangers because of Nolan Ryan. I think he is part owner now if I'm not mistaken. I really think if we get past the Cards we can go all the way. I hope I'm right. As far as Steve Bartman goes I can tell you right now if I could have got a hold of him 12 years ago I would have probably spent the rest of my life in jail. LOL. I still can't stand Josh Beckett to this day either. He came out that next night and was absolutely lights out. I was thinking last night how it makes me feel so old because I was 21 the last time the Cubs won a playoff game but it seems like yesterday that I got my heart broken in that Bartman game. Time flies dude.

You and about 50,000 other people :lolol:

He had to be escorted out of the stadium. It got so ugly they felt his life was literally in danger, pretty messed up. He did the same thing that 99% every other fan would do. Cubs have only themselves to blame for losing that game. They still had the lead and only needed one more out if IIRC.

To this day, Bartman has never spoken about it or accepted any money to tell his story.

One of those ESPN films documented it, it was really good but also showed how effed up people are.

Yeah I watched that documentary and it was really good. It really wasn't Bartman's fault in the grand scheme of things because he was just doing what any other person would do. Moises Alou really made it worse because he reacted as though he would have caught it. We wound up blowing it after that play and basically Bartman became the scapegoat. Still kills me to this day.

WHY does the Cubs-Cards game 3 HAVE to be on Monday night??? This is just cruel. I will be watching the Steelers though. I may literally set two tv's up beside each other or something. Any ideas?

I don't follow baseball much. is there an explanation on how arrietta went from journeyman to ace? his career era is 3.94 but he now cannot be scored on?

I am a Cubs fan but I do not see how we are dirty. I have been scouting their forums awhile and would've rooted for the bucs had they won. Seriously though... 107 years... and plenty of years of sucking.

Since the All Star Break he just has lost his mind. He is a thing of beauty to watch.

That's a real good question, doubleyoi. He's been lights out since the all-star break. He also hit an opposite field HR in a game a couple weeks back. Now there's rampant speculation about steroids, but I don't buy it. The guy's a great athlete to begin with and I think he finally got with a pitching coach who made some very productive tweaks to his delivery or something.

The same thing happened with J.A. Happ for us. He was junk in Seattle, comes here and gets with Ray Searrage, they tweak his release angle or something, and boom: he's 8-1 since he got here.

I don't think the fans are dirty, just the players. I'm with you, I really like Rizzo and Madden, I would've rooted for the cubbies up until about a month ago.

One of them took out our rookie-of-the-year candidate, Kang, at second a few weeks ago in a dirty play. They were flipping bats after big hits in the wild card. In the same game Arrietta throws at one guy's face and plunks another, then whines about getting thrown at in return and it and starts a brawl.

Just my opinion, of course, but I'll now be rooting for whoever plays the cubbies.

I understand your position, Bobby. The catcher you're thinking of is Matt Wieters. Baltimore drafted him because the Pirates wouldn't. I'll never forget that either.

Yeah I figured they would lose. To say that Arrieta is on roids is just beyond dumb though. He owned your team all by himself. They lost last night but notice how no coolers were harmed in the making of that game. They also lived to play another day. The buccos? Not so much. Actually they choked to a very young team. The cards would probably beat the pirates worse than they would the cubs. I fully expect the cards to win it all actually.

Whatever. Live in your make believe world. Whether he used them or not will come out it in time, it always does.

Okay, BFT, I agree and disagree with you on this.

Agree that Arrieta is not on roids.
Agree that he owned my team all by himself.
    Agree that bucs choked.

Disagree that the cards would beat the Pirates worse than the Cubs. Pirates actually won the season series vs the cards. The Pirates were set up to win five or seven game series. I worry about the Cubs bullpen and the starting pitching after Arrieta and Lester. Having said that, your cubbies aren't out of it. Both Cubs and pirates could beat cards in five. Would have loved to see bucs and Cubs in five game series. I think they are best two teams in the NL.

Disagree that the cards win it all. The Blue Jays offense is like murderer's row Yankees. I've never seen anything like it. I think they will win it all.

I would be fine if the Jays win it if it keeps the cards from doing it. Another thing going against the Cubbies is the youth factor too. It's going to be interesting to see if they can show some resolve after getting their butts handed to them last night. Out of curiosity, did you think there was some really questionable calls last night? I did but I don't think that was the reason for the loss though.

I kind of just had the game on in the background while I played this Rival Kingdoms game on my iPad so I didn't pay close attention. But as for their youth, I kinda think that works in your favor. Like these kids don't know any better so they're just playing hard like it's normal, know what I mean? I'm not being very eloquent here, but to steal a coach T saying, it seems like it's not too big for them. Lester looked great from what I saw, but I think Theo has some work to do on that bullpen this offseason.

Pirates are built for a series. They would've of beaten the Cubs, we just have the hottest pitcher right now. Pirates are better than the cards, cards just have some pixie dust going on. It's a must win for Cubs today

If Cubs can get one of the next two, they'll have Arrieta and Lester for the last two games and I like their chances. You gotta get one of the next two.
