We also are thinking something with the hats. Problem is the memory is getting shaky.

Yinz are getting very close. It does have to do with the uniform, and maybe I should have said rare instead of unusual.
Also, I believe that the fourth Alou brother was Bob Alou, and he sang with Desi Arnaz’s orchestra.

If we had a white flag button I'd press it. Me and 2 friends have given up.

OK, I will end the suspense. Matty Alou played for the Pirates in the mid to late 60s, and was traded to St.Louis after the 1970 season. The Pirates were supposed to begin playing at Three Rivers at the start of the 1970 season, but it was not ready. They had new uniforms, which were the first polyester knits in baseball, but saved their debut until they moved to Three Rivers in July of that year. So, several players were around JUST long enough to briefly wear the new uni. In the case of Matty Alou, that card is the only photo of him in that uniform that I have ever seen (I am sure there must be a few more). All other photos are of him in the old familiar vest top over black shirt.
Similar case with Fred Patek, except that I have seen several action photos from the 1970 NLCS against the Reds.
Photos of these players in the “new” uniforms are exceedingly rare. They could only have worn them in about a ten week period in 1970.
I don’t count the 1970 team photo, which looks like it was taken in the new uniforms in an unfinished TRS, after the team broke training camp and came to Pittsburgh.
I searched for a photo of Al McBean in the knits, but could not find one. He was released in May 1970 after being reacquired, so there may not be any. He was hosed by fate, joining the Pirates a year after the 1960 World Championship, and being released the year before the 1971 World Championship.

I will post several other rare pix.

Never ever would have came up with it but after reading the explanation it rang a bell.

And here I was thinking it was George when he made the Yankees wear polyester;) Seinfeld reference. By the way Seinfeld kind of really came to a close last night with The Larry David show having it's final episode on HBO.
