@PWP@PWP LJ has a very good arm. Good enough to make all the throws needed to be an NFL QB. And have you read what Ben and the players in that huddle Sunday have said about him? His mind may be his strongest attribute. Time will tell whether or not he's able to build on the success of his FIRST EVER NFL GAME, but let's give him a chance.

If Boswell does a good job, the whole season, they will keep him, he could be the future for a very long time.

Fair enough and I am giving him a chance to prove me wrong .....I am on record of how I feel and if Haley goes crazy I really expect him to look very bad ....I think he played very well last game after watching for 3 Quarters and after watching how they played Vick. He took full advantage of that and I am glad he did. Now comes the real challenge how will he adapt when the D switches things up on him ? Can he use that Football IQ during the game while guys are running at him ? Is he a better QB or a better Coach ? ,My vote is Coach .....

jones stands in and makes throws under pressure. that is one thing i like about him. he did it last week while getting whacked and he did it in preseason as well. your concerns there are very unfounded. quite the contrary pwp.

 Joe Webb is he even still in the league? I remember Webb started a playoff game for the Vikings a few years ago and he was garbage.

He was an undrafted free agent when the texans signed him, as such if he had stayed with them he would have been restricted for 3 years, and for drafted players it is 4 years: However since the texans released him he became a free agent and he tried out for two other teams that released him, when his contract is up here he wont be restricted: He does have solid college credntials, he was no slouch at Rice:

Boswell was a 3-year starter at Rice. With 358 career points, he is second on the all-time Rice scoring list behind ex-NFL wide receiver Jarett Dillard.

Boswell has looked fantastic. If he keeps this up, I would trade Suisham and try to at least get that Scobee pick back.

Jones is gonna be a little trickier, IMO. He'll never have a better opportunity than this week at KC to show what he can do. I know the Steelers prefer experience at backup QB but the guys we've had there don't seem to stay healthy. Vick, Gradkowski, Leftwich, etc. If Landry can get it done this week, I make him the backup full time and part ways with Vick and Gradkowski.

Actually Redman played above the line and exceeded most expectations..He was thought of as a camp fodder...He went from fodder to starter and helped us win games until he got hurt ....DHB has played very well his stats show him to be the 3rd. best WR om the Team and I think that can be argued very well....

Now did they run Red 30 times a game ? Did they throw towards DHB 10 times a game ? The answer is no they did not . I hope they don't think that Jones is really 1A material, if they Coach him that way it could get him and the team in trouble in this game...

This is what I am saying about not thinking a player is better than what he is...As a fan of the Team I have that luxury ...The Coaches of the Team do not....

Let's see what this week brings. I've said all along let's see him run with the 1s. Worked out pretty good I think. Hopefully he rings up another W. He's surrounded by too much talent to not have a half decent showing through a full game. Don't forget, he's auditioning for his future be it here or for someone else.
He looked hungry hope it keeps up.

He has full command of the playbook so I expect more of the same that we saw against Arizona.

Personally, I don't think it's right for someone to lose their job just because they get hurt. But I know it's a business so it's going to happen. As far as Gradkowski, I don't much care about him. He's always just kind of been ok.
Shawn though- he is a Steeler.
He's not afraid to get in there & make a tackle to save a TD. Maybe he doesn't have the leg Boswell does. But Shawn is as reliable as they get. I'd be sad if we got rid of him.

The play that made me think Landry Jones may actually belong as a #2 was the 23 yarder to Bryant on 3rd and 13 on his second series. He easily and confidently dropped it over the dropping linebacker and between the corner and safety. That was an NFL throw all the way. They don't even ask college QBs to attempt that throw. The back shoulder throw to AB and the hot read dump off to Heath were nice plays as well.

Obviously he still has a lot to prove, and it's possible that he flops Sunday. However, I feel far more confident in him now after what I witnessed Sunday. More confident than I would be in Grad.

I say Suisham is gonna be a casualty to Boswell and Grad will be demoted to a 3 if he wants to stay if Landry plays well against KC. Although what if Landry plays really well and gets the attention of a team needing a qb? Like the Browns maybe? That would be kinda crazy. Don't necessarily think it will happen but he probably will certainly have some leverage from the business side of things if he manages to really play well. You think that could be true?

MT proved his incompetence by signing his homeboy vick. I doubt MT learned anything.

I think SS beats out Boswell in camp. We will have 2 kickers since bos is signed for 2 years like someone said
SS has good years here. I can see them eating Bos' contract and tell him to be on standby. I would assign a guy to push SS out of bounds if he ever acts like he is going to try and make a play

i'm not so sure it was the signing as much as the not making a move to get him off the field as it became evident he just can't get it done.

I think we would need to see a little more game situations/experience
from Landry Jones before we anoint him the next coming of Ben R.
But hey the kid deserves a chance. Is he a legitimate # 2 QB for the Steelers for the next 3 years? We shall see.

well BR did it as a rookie. this kid has shown better than an old vet vick, so he's somewhere in between and i'll go as far as saying, with the weapons we have he's closer to ben than he is vick.:smiley1::cool:

I don't claim to know what the future holds for Landry Jones. Your conclusions/opinions are just as good as mine when it comes to it. I understand your skepticism... However, I'm gonna need you to explain this quote to me. I think you have unrealistic expectations on what a "true QB2" is. IMO a guy who can come in and win maybe 2 games is exactly what you want from a QB2. There is no such thing as a "staring material" back up QB. Really there aren't even 32 "starting material" first string QB's.

The only real exception I can think of is the Rodgers/Farve situation (and others like it). You take a rookie QB in the first round to wait for a year or two behind your starter, then take over. Other than that idk how you could have a starting quality back up?

It's a real possibility, but too early to tell. If Jones continues his good play, there is absolutely no reason to keep Grad around. We could roll with Jones as the 2 and find another young arm to be the 3. Boswell would have to show out to replace sushi tho. The Steelers have trust in Sean (and that's a huge thing regarding kickers). Boswell will have to earn that over the course of the entire season (and into the playoffs too) in order to unseat Suisham.
