I also love being a Steelers fan for this same reason....

As much as I do not like it in a game, the Steelers staff usually holds out a player and does not allow him usually to go back in after being hurt especially when dealing with concussions or concussion-like syndromes. I recall Polomalu this year wanting to go back in and was not allowed. As a fan, I kept saying put him back in, we cannot win without him, but we did. This shows why we are a classy organization and we do think of our players health first. The Stains showed that all they cared about was trying to win that game. Their excuses were pathetic. "We followed standard procedures!" Yeah right!

Now, with regards to Ben.... He didn't have any concussion or concussion-like syndrome, but it seemed he was pretty much able to call his own shots about playing and eventually going back in when it was obvious that he was not able to play his best. I believe this all has to do with the doctors giving the medical okay for him to play. With concussions, we, as a franchise do not seem to take any chances and I guess that is a good thing with the research that we now know regarding head injuries.

Having said all of that, I still like to win every game!

Plus, a bum ankle and concussions are a huge difference in terms of danger to your long-term health.
Worst case Ben ruins his foot forever and has to stop playing football (he still has a ton of money in the bank until he did something stupid). With a concussed player you have to worry about long-term brain damage (according to current medical research) which is a lot more serious.

So yeah, i can understand (and appreciate) that the Steelers organization overrules players' wishes when it comes to playing with concussions - and gives them a little more wiggle room when it comes to other types of injury

Great points! I just like rooting for a team who usually makes the right calls, even when we (the fans) want otherwise.

I love it that the Stains were likely going to draft Matt Barkley and now he has decided to stay where he is for another year. Jax will very likely take Robert Griffin because Gabbert is absolutely useless. So the Browns either have to take a non-QB, or go with Landry Jones, who has no business going that high.
