Or they feel like Moore wont cost them much and would be a fine RT at his dollar amount. Will have to see how he performs before signing a deal, but we cant just drop every player that doesn't turn into a stud. Sometimes the Ramon Foster's of the unit are just as important as the David Decastro's. Not as good certainly, but part of a really good unit at a team friendly price.

    Very possible.

So much of that will be determined by how much they like Rush and Trice. If they believe they are going to work out at boundary corners, they may even be able to move down, acquire another pick, and still get the center they want.

A slot corner can be had a little later in the draft.

    So many possibilities.

JPJ might have been held back for his lack of experience demonstrated last Thurs. He did well in coverage but committed far more penalties than he should have and was a bit handsy. All can be forgiven for sure and I think he will do well with more practice. If he improves his tackling he should be a great lockdown corner.

DE first, Center second. Get Surtain from Broncos. Steelers need a new Haden.

Agreed. I don't think they are in a huge rush to force Moore out of the starting lineup. They have many other positions that should be higher priorities than a tackle to play opposite Jones.

JPJ looks to be a very good man to man cover corner. A little handsy but he will clean that up...hopefully. If we can draft another man to man cover corner or Cory Trice Jr. comes back from his injury and plays the way he was in training camp...the defense could be really good. It will give our front 7 even more time to get to the QB unlike this zone defense they been trotting out there. Patrick Peterson, needs to be cut, because he is too slow to play man to man anymore and a penalty machine because he is too handsy because of this. He is a fish out of water in this defense.

Don't be surprised if Chuks starts against Green Bay. He wasn't benched by Tomlin for his playing but being critical of players and coaches on offense as well as the scheme against Jacksonville. Plus they are not going to have a 16+ mill player to sit on the bench.

Unfortunately Jones should have stayed at Left Tackle making Moore to be the swing.

Guess I don't understand what your getting at. Moore was injured and Jones replaced him and did quite well. He should have stayed there when Moore came back. He is the future, Moore is not. Moore will be the swing tackle next season so might as well get him acclimated now. But he's the vet right?!

    Question is..

Could the Steelers pull that trade off?! Who would be the trading pieces?! I say who because I severely doubt that the Broncos are going to want merely just one or two picks. They will likely be looking for a player as well.

no - that is not what I said, you never understood the SARCASM. you are too dull.

since he was ROTTING due to useless coaches, he was wasting, is what I said. In other words, it appeared we blew it with SO MANY HOLES on this team.

    adios to him then.

which is why I commented last week that another T is in the mix with pick 1 or 2, I am afraid. we neglected this OLINE for many many years.

since we are on to the 2024 draft, who do you all want to see as an OC? that will matter MORE than any players.......we will find some players, is my point. but we NEED better coaches.

What he wants and what he is going to get is a whole different story. He can test FA all he wants, but that doesn't mean there are team lining up to pay him LT money. Its possible a team does and maybe he holds out hope for that. But the reality is the 23rd paid LT would be 5 million/yr. The 21st RT is.... 5 million/yr (according to OverTheCap). I don't think he is viewed as a terrible player, but I doubt his market is super high. I'd be fine with him for 5-6 million a year at RT. Something has to give anyways. If we spend all this money to upgrade in places we don't necessarily have to, we are just going to have to be OK being awful in certain position groups.

There is always some team willing to over pay if they think they have a missing link and LT is a highly sought position

Now it wasn’t for a lot of money but Seattle thought Bush was worth guaranteed money and someone signed Edmunds

No, this is only partially the truth.

I remember this conversation. It wasn't a coaching thing, nor were you being sarcastic. You were panicking that we missed on the pick because he wasn't our week 1 starter. If he was too green to start or if our plan was to sit him for part/all of the season... then we shouldn't have taken him. See quotations below from September. None of it was sarcastic and none of it had ANYTHING to do with coaching.

I get the sentiment, since I wanted Broderick to start too... but he didn't win the job in preseason and we took him under the premise that it was going to take him time to be NFL ready since he had so little experience at Georgia. I think we did the right thing waiting to play him and not kill his confidence. He looked a bit shaky in preseason, but he played well against Baltimore and Tennessee. He should be a starting tackle from here on out.

    - it would be, as in SUCK Draft pick. you don't trade up, rush to the podium, for your DREAM PICK and then he SITS? not in today's NFL, unless you have a STAR STUDDED roster, which we did not, DO NOT. Did we screw up here? you don't sit top 15 first round picks in this league, unless you screwed up.

    maybe we did......

    - Here we are saying it would be a suck draft pick if he doesn't start this year. Might be a miss since he isn't week 1 starter.

    - NOPE - I wanted him.

go back and read from April.

that said, he should be playing. Since he is NOT, it appears an early MISTAKE

top 15 picks in the NFL start. We know Moore is just.....MOORE. Let the kid learn on the job, it's what happens today, no luxury on this team to WAIT.

    - Here, he isn't starting week 1 so we might've made a mistake taking him.

    - this is partially true - yes, those 3 are great, but many teams have a great edge rusher - welcome to the NFL! If he was not ready, then we should not have drafted him, hence my comments about 'did we make a mistake'. He can leave college 'early', does not mean we had to risk the pick on him

    we needed impact players NOW

    - If we knew he wasn't going to be ready then we shouldn't have drafted him.

    - We may have screwed up here, that is all I am saying. I am not concerned about 2024. the future is NOW.

We need to win while Pickett is young, on his rookie deal.

if Jones is young and 'green', then we messed up.

    - If Jones is too "green" to start week 1, then we screwed up taking him. Not at all concerned whether or not he is good in the future, but rather CAN HE START WEEK 1 AS A ROOKIE?

There is always the chance, but a lot of players and their agents know what their play is worth based on a scale of other similarly ranked players of their position. They also know the perks and drawbacks of signing other places. He's getting solid average to below average starting T dollars no matter what he thinks. I think we might offer him a contract in that range. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

They will certainly make him an offer with one year left in the range you suggest

I just don’t think he will accept it

Most likely/commonly they will let him test FA and request the right to match any offer
