    my life is boring.

watched a YouTube breakdown of BJ's game from Thurs night. Kid will be an All-Pro in a few short years. He is a beast and will get better. Has only played limited RT in his life.

What Tomlin has been doing letting him rot for 7 weeks, I really have no idea. I have ranted about that already enough, in weeks past, so for this post, I will let it go.

He is HUGE, incredibly strong. His weakness the other night was quick jump at the snap, he was a bit slow but the author commented he will get this down in no time. the illegal man down field was on the our WR and Kenny, primarily. of course the personal foul late, was a mental lapse. that needs to not happen again.

He made a number of key blocks that sprung both Najee and Warren, it is NO WONDER we had a best rushing night of the year.

    His pass blocking was phenomenal.

bye bye Chuks, sorry. What do we save cutting him, releasing him for 2024?

I have to agree that Jones should have been starting from day 1. Clearly he's our best offensive lineman, and the O-line as a until played better with him. Maybe this was Tomlin's plan to "showcase" Chucks before the trade deadline before inserting Jones as a starter? I can't really understand any other reason why Jones wasn't starting. Obviously the plan didn't work, because Chucks is washed up. I would expect them to move Jones over to the left side next year, and have Moore on the right

Better late then never. Wonder with this move if Khan was on the phone trying to move him before the trade deadline.

Was not jumping for joy when they signed him to that contract.

Have to wait releasing him till 2024 saving 8,750 mill with a 3,083.334 dead cap hit. Plus he has a Roster Bonus: $4M (5th league day of 2024) So the only money he gets is the signing bonus which is the dead cap. No Brainer...

    Ba Bye...

I’m with you, I don’t understand why he wasn’t starting weeks ago. Same with JPJ. I thought part of coaching was to make sure you’ve got your best players on the field.

our o-linemen on the move with traps and counters and pulling even on pass plays. finally turning the corner on this zone scheme change to more of a power scheme. i like it. it fits who we have and fits jones as well as several others.

2024 should be the year thar Broderick finally overtakes Dan Moore Jr. for that Left Tackle spot. As far as I could tell, even in his two starts (one I was very skeptical about), Broderick has all he needs to succeed and then some. There was a reason why some outlets had him as the best OT in the class (those that didn't account for Peter Skoronski anyways) or within the Top Three.

This all said, upgrading that Right Tackle spot would be nice as well. I don't have much faith in Dan Moore Jr successfully switching over to that side though given how he has performed poorly at his natural side. Thankfully, the upcoming draft has a slew of very good Right Tackle Prospects; two being great.

Porter still has issues. He is too handsy in coverage and he is a lousy tackler.

Jones should have stayed in the lineup when Moore returned. He showed he can hold up as a starter and he is much better than Okorafor.

Porters lack of tackling irritates the crap out of me. That's why I take Rod over Dion ever day of the week if I need a corner, because you cant just be a cover corner and not be a good tackler for this team. Rod was awesome against the run, could blitz and rarely missed the tackle. Every Steeler should be required to watch Jack Lambert and Jack Ham tackling videos, text book literally every time.

LoL. Nobody thinks if either started right away they may not be as good as they are now???. LoL. You do realize that a coaches job is not to make sure a new 1st, and 2nd round pick is quickly inserted into the lineup, but to win games....not make You , or Me happy, but to win games, and I believe if either had started the 1st game they wouldn't have been up to the task. You can see the problems they are having now, and they have been eased into more, and more playing time.
I find it very funny that nobody can say......Hmmm:hmm:......maybe they were handled correctly. LoL
This whole make Him take Moores place would still make the RT not good...while this way both sides are pretty good, but some rather be right ,and stick Jones in there at LT, and our Rt still be bad. If anyone has truly watched.....our LT play is not even close to the worst line play we have. So the smart thing to do was... whomever out of the two Lts could play RT the best does....hmm:hmm: is that what they are doing????:shrug: That way more than just one spot on the line is good, but nooooooo!!!! LoL.
Oh by the way this is not to the post ahead of Me.....since I didn't tag anyone, or QUOTE anyone......this is to the board.

I thought that was implied when I posted that Porter still has some things to work on.

Regarding Jones, he wasn't great in preseason. There was no reason to rush him. I've been defending the team's choice to take him, but to also be patient with him, in other threads. Now, however, it's time to leave him in the starting lineup.

This is the same guy that said Jones was a wasted draft pick because he didn't start right away .

They will probably draft a RT in 2024, Moore will be going into the last year of his contract.

Taliese Fuaga from Oregon State would be a fantastic addition. However, given how well he has played this season, I will not be shocked if he is within the Top 20 picks; Top 15 being his current ceiling. Kingsley Suamataia from BYU is another I wouldn't mind.

I wouldn't count out Tyler Guyton from Oklahoma either. Dream pick is Amarius Mims though he might be gone for the dude is Top 15 at worst and Top 7 at best.

They also need to be looking for a center within the first two rounds.

Zach Fraizer from WVU may be the best bet. Unless the team trades up in Round 2, Sedrick Van Pran from Georgia is very much gone unless the 2024 Free Agency Class somehow, someway, changes that as a whole. Centers like Van Pran usually are taken either at the end of Round One to the Top of Round 2.

Agree that Porter’s got to clean some things up, but he’s the best cover corner we have and that’s been the Achilles heel of the secondary this season. Agree wholeheartedly that Jones should have remained a starter after his stellar first game as a starter. I’d have left him it at LT but I guess Moore is a better LT than Chuks is a RT so we’re good for now. The offensive line as a unit was much more effective last game.

In the first round they should be looking for another CB or RT, center is a position teams seem to wait until the second round or later.

    Hell....

I can make the argument that Joey Porter Jr is the best Corner the team has had since Joe Haden circa 2019. 2019 Joe Haden was awesome! Granted, 2020 was okay but nothing like what he was a season ago.

Regardless, I would still say for the team to draft a RT over a CB next season. Not saying I don't see the drop off (I very much do) but the 2024 Draft Class has a lot more OT options to choose from than CB ones. How so?

    Kool Aid McKinstry.

Kamari Lassiter (Cover 3 Primarily, something the Steelers deploy.. a lot).

    Denzel Burke.

Cooper DeJean. (Wild Card as he is not a traditional CB anyways; a versatile Playmaker if anything).

This is, more or less, the options I would consider the Steelers to have some interest in. For those of you who believe I had forgotten about Josh Newton, I have not. Thing is, while he is a ridiculously sound and technical corner, speedster at the WR position are going to have a field day with him. Unlike the other CBs the Steelers have on the Roster, Newton uses his length well... but is only average at best.

As for OT?!?! Phew man! Lots of options within the first 4 Rounds alone!

    True.

For me, either Fuaga/Suamataia or DeJean/Burke would be favorable options. J.C. Latham is another Right Tackle that is worth noting but his incalculable peaks are sadly matched by his incalculable valleys. Thankfully, much of it is fundamentally based... so it shouldn't be too difficult to correct.

This all said, JC Latham is very much like Broderick Jones in one sense; immeasurable potential. Truth be told, I wouldn't be surprised nor mad if he is the pick. However, he is an Alabama Prospect; high ranking ones like Latham go bye bye within the first 10 picks.

That makes sense, of course depends on who is there and if some C just has spectacular features, but that is wait and see, lol. On other sites some have been mentioning they can't wait to see what Trice does, well you can't put your trust in a guy who never played an NFL down and is coming back from a 2nd ACL. I actually would not mind spending bucks on a quality C in FA if one was there, securing that interior line I feel would solve a lot of issues.

I really like Frazier. You would think Van Pran would be off the board if they wait until the second round, but centers don't normally go that high. You never know.

It could be one of those situations where they have 2 or 3 guys rated pretty close at the same position. Then when the first center goes, they make a move to get the other player. If they luck out and centers aren't taken too early, they get a steal. If a center comes off earlier that expected, it may force their hand to move up or they just settle for another center later.

For all we know they will sign a free agent or make a trade to acquire a center.

It's always interesting to watch it play out.
