If Ben retires, we have Rudolph and Haskins in the QB room. Adding a veteran "bridge" would be ideal. With the Wentz deal, Brissett emerges as an option, and Henne remains a logical choice.

What other 3rd QB would you add to the Ben-less QB room? Maybe Minshew?

    In this order

    Fitzmagic
    Brissett
    Tyrod Taylor
    Mitch Ti**ies
    Mariota (trade)

Canada has already worked with Brissett at NC State and they had a productive time there. Mariota might be my first choice but the Raiders will want a third for him, no thanks.

Chad Henne would be a long way down the list, not sold

Canadas Offense is alot of motion, running the ball, jet sweeps, misdirection...I think Mariotta would be a great fit...lots of fakes, He could roll out alot after play action with run / pass option , which is his strong point...

In this hypothetical scenerio...You couldn't have 2 more opposite Offenses...As would last years, and this alternative

    I don't think Mariotta would cost you a 3rd... MAYBE, a 4th

They have had a lot of interest apparently, it was a shrewd signing by the Raiders if the intention was to trade him now. I agree he is a good fit for Canada’s system. Trubisky is a similar type player, but not as good imo

A rookie. mason and Haskins have both started and played a good bit in this league. Fix the line, run game for them and sure up the defense instead of a clipboard holder.

I say Dobbs he would be much more valuable under a more mobile QB type system, plus he seems like he is going to be a great Coach someday ...He helped Ben so he can help other QB'S as well...

I don't know who needs to hear this but if Ben retires or is cut, there is a 100% chance they are going with Mason Rudolph as the starter in 2021.

The only coaching Dobbs is going to do, is on his future kid’s team... Dude is a rocket scientist, I highly doubt he turns his back on that career.

I think Jacoby Brissett would be a great addition. I would pass on the others.

I am not so sure he seems to really Love Football and likes looking at films and tape ,plus a HC in the NFL is probably a better paying job anyway ... Everytime he gives a interview with former players they state he sounds just like a Coach ...IMO he is going to be a lifer ...

He's making a lot more money in the NFL even if he was only getting vet minimum at this point and would earn more as a coach. He could make a decent living as an aerospace engineer but he won't make $3.5M in 4 years working for Boeing or even SpaceX. Why wouldn't you earn while you have the opportunity? I honestly see it as more about the opportunity than his passion, but I don't know the guy personally, so I could be wrong

This future coaching crap started after Ben acknowledged Dobbs helped him draw up one play. Then I read an article on how Dobbs would make a great coach someday...then I started seeing posts like the one you responded to.

Dobbs has made a career on 2 plays, the pass he completed coming for Ben a few years ago, and drawing up a play from the sidelines. We have no idea what his future plans are, but if he does one more thing watch the Dobbs for HOF posts start.

This right here. It’s gonna be a long time until the Steelers have a franchise QB again. The elite ones are rare. What’s even more rare? When they’re discarded from another team.

Other than Brady and Manning, when was the last Super Bowl winning QB discarded by another team? Brees and then who?

Joe Flacco, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Kurt Warner, Brett Favre off the top of my head.

    Some points
-Flacco was drafted by the Ravens.
-Dilfer was discarded by the Bucs, but do you really think he helped the Ravens win the SB that year?
-Brad Johnson again was simply a safe QB who didn't make mistakes, and not the reason the Bucs won the SB that year.
-Kurt Warner & Brett Favre: Accurate, but they also had no solid game tape before they went to the teams where they starred.

So...I think Drew Brees is the best example of a QB changing teams after significant playing time in the NFL, who then led his new team to a SB win. I would also add in Jim Plunkett and Doug Williams as other examples.
