It is one loss but the team has been an undisciplined mess for 3 years running.

Are there really that many youngsters on here who can't remember all the hate for Cowher and his conservative, "play not to lose" style? Him being compared to Schottenheimer? All the "He's done, the game has passed him by" rhetoric when he had his first losing season?

    I remember it well.

And I never remember his having a team this sloppy, unprepared, getting out-physicaled, and just downright horrible.

Cowher said it himself tonight, he doesn't like either one of our lines...and I agree.

Hed never let them become this soft.

This team makes no adjustments whatsoever. As a matter of fact they get worse

He didn't have to deal with Goodell's rules and penalties. Except for the flavor-of-the-moment Seahawks, I don't know how a defensive team will win on the road this season.

Cowher would have his hands full with this bunch. The fact of the matter is this is a bad team with a few decent players and a few excellent players sprinkled in there. It may take a long time for this team to get back on track and I feel the hardest thing to restore will be the defense. Along with having at least decent corners we need to be able to get pressure on the QB with a four man rush. We haven't had a pass rush since Woodley and Harrison's glory days and we've even used some high draft picks to address it but they have been mediocre at best.

Man I used to get so dang mad at Cowher and say "we always lose to teams we should beat!!!" I still love him though. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. However, I don't want him to be our coach. That ship has sailed. Now let's let it reach its harbor in Canton.

The coach now critic.. I dont know that I trust Cowher that much.. It took him a hell of along time to finally get an SB.

But even back in the day with the passrush Brady and QBs with the short passing game could carve up that defense.

Back in the day on the steelers.com forum before this one it was discussed every week about how Cowher played not to lose instead of playing to win..

I never cared so much for that kind of talk because Cowher was a great clock manager and running the ball made a huge difference in the game. Not so much anymore...Since then we have not had a running back like the BUS and your TOP was ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean in favour of the good guys :)

This is Tomlin football at it's best, an inconsistent 60 minuets of unorganized, undisciplined, emotionless football and Tomlin stands on the sidelines with a blank stare on his face, then gets in front of a microphone and tries to convince us he will make it all better. As a Steeler fan of over 50 years, I am finding watching this team under Tomlin becoming nothing more than a team in decline. The Rooney's need to make changes.

Exactly. Come on, guys. Yes, we lost ONCE this year, but this has been going on since the loss to GB in the Super Bowl.

i would ask cowher if he can come back just to help on the draft day , ask him if he can scout for us defensive college players , and since would be already involved ask him who we have to hire in place of tomlin
basically i would like him at gm more than a coach

One loss, and all hell breaks loose on the board. Ah, yes, the joy of thesteelersfans.com! :lolol:

    It's one loss. One. Loss.

Yes, the team was flat, yesterday, but this bunch looks a lot better than the past two years. And we started off the season with a win.

As far is the call to fire Tomlin... ROTFLMAO! Yeah... ok... :lolol:

I think this is a point that's getting lost in some of the frustration from last night. As I said in another thread, what hurts about this loss is that I know this team can play better.

And, of course, it was a loss to the Ravens.

And, of course, having to endure Simms' drivel.
