There is your new defensive coordinator right there. Say goodbye to Mr Dadgummit and invest a bunch of money to bringing this guy in as the new D Coordinator. He is a Belichick disciple and I really like him a lot and would really do everything I can to bring him here as the D Coordinator if I am Rooney and Tomlin.

I don't get that firing. Sure you started 1-7, that is terrible.
But you rebounded and got back into playoff contention by year's end and didn't lose a locker room.

He should of gotten another year.

But sure I'll take him over Butler.

Not sure how he feels about his exit or his drive to be a headcoach but if they "retire" Butler , I hope the at least talk to Zimmer

Do a meme where Butler takes off a mask revealing Tomlin, and then Teryl Austin takes off a mask revealing Tomlin. Because that's what that move is.

Very surprised that Miami have fired Flores

I’d take him as DC without hesitation if he is available but yeah, they will probably just promote from within again

I think Flores gets another HC opportunity, if not this year, then in 2023. I have a good friend who is a Dolphins fan, and tends to be critical, and he wanted them to retain Flores.

If I am Chicago I'd be all over Flores, maybe even Jacksonville too.

The Rooney Rule alone will help Flores get another HC job.

Flores finished 8-1. Pretty hard to figure out this firing when this streak could have carried over to the following year (not 8-1 but playoff type team).

If the Dolphins were a highly talented team I could understand that 9-8 just isn't good enough but the offense was so limited with Tua at QB and the defense does not have the talent to carry a QB.

Flores actually did a good job. Maybe there is some behind the scenes stuff?

The Rooney Rule alone couldnt help you get chit if you're not a good coach so that makes no damn sense. They would hire him because they think hes capable of elevating a team to the next level...not because of the color of his skin. If the Rooney Rule alone got him a job then the Rooney Rule should have kept him there. Even more so it would mean that were far more black coaches in the league <mod edit>

*what the hell was that? Don’t do that here.

You are arguing that the Rooney Rule doesn't help minority coaches get hired? Then why does it exist? So you are against the Rooney Rule because you think job performance should be the only criteria? That sounds racist to me.

I literally just said the Dolphins should have kept Flores for at least one more season did I not? Are you OK?

Not sure if you've noticed but most head coaches being hired lately are offensive coaches and Flores is not. I think what will help him get hired is the additional opportunities to interview for a head coaching job which the Rooney Rule might enable him.

The reality is that Flores has a losing record as a head coach and has never won a playoff game. The team he took over was 7-9 so it wasn't terrible. Like if Frank Reich had been fired then Flores might have gotten opportunities at interviews that Reich might not have (even though Reich is a talented offensive coach with a winning record who won a Super Bowl as the Eagles OC.) So to me the Rooney Rule works and gives an opportunity that might not otherwise be there for coaches like Brian Flores.

Why would any DC worth his weight come to Pittsburgh? With Tomlin calling the defensive plays.
