Now you know that's not how the Steelers do business. It's only been two years that we started letting our rookies play more than preseason and in a blow out. The culture is changing but a rookie starting day one in Pittsburgh is uncharted territory.

Based on Tomlins comments, they won't be looking at FA CB and will be aiming for the draft. Any chance of Boykin is farther down the line if at all.

My opinion is he is a slot only CB with a high price tag

I'm kind of torn on this. If a rookie DB has 2 bad plays out of 80, that's 2 touchdowns, and a lost game. We saw last year how important 1 loss can be. Let alone 2-3 because of growing pains. On the other hand, we saw how good Blake was.

That's my take too. He'd be fine in the slot for us but I'm not paying big dough for a slot. If he thinks he's anything more, then he's fooling himself.

It appears you missed the point about Blake.

Are you thinking we have a Woodson on the roster? Or getting one at #25 in the draft? I'm thinking there are more Blakes in the draft than Woodsons?

What is his price tag, I didn't think that was the issue, it was more Tomlin didn't play him. He was much better then Blake whether in the slot or on the outside. If he is asking too much that's a different story, but I don't think that's the issue here.

I am thinking Golson or Grant are a lot better than Blake can ever dream of being

I can see AJ. Green lining up with Golson across from him. First, Green wonders are they shooting, "Lord of the Rings 4" because he's got a hobbit across from him? Then, tears of joy stream from his eyes in knowing that this guy across from him is about provide him with video tape proof for his next contract negotiations. Lmfao.

That's a good dream. But this isn't college. No 5"8" cornerback is going to cover A.J. Green. There is no 5 "8" cornerback in this league already who's going to cover Green man on man.

I really don't know what the Steelers prefer in their height if any. Some of the CBs the Steelers are bringing in this year, based on size only.

    Tavon Young 5'9"
    Mackensie Alexander 5'10"
    Jonathon Jones 5'9"

    Harlon Miller 6'
    William Jackson 6'
    Deondre Elliot 6'1"

Just the list so far. I really wouldn't want another guy below 5'10" but I guess they have to cover their bases.

In the end zone even. Green's size lost out to Blake's instincts in the end zone (even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes). Golson has 25x the instincts that Blake has. Yes, size and physical presence help a lot, but a guy like Golson will make the QB pay if the throws aren't placed to take advantage of the size mismatch. Ideally you'd like a corner who has it all - speed, size, instincts, etc. However, I'd put instincts 1st on the list.

I want a corner that has it all. That's all. Whoever we draft, he needs to be at least 6 feet with the instincts. No more hobbits.

I see Revis, Sherman, Browner, Talib in Super Bowls. That's what I see. Corners who have the size and coverage ability. We need a guy like that.

Boykin signed with the Panthers. No need to talk about him anymore.

First of all, Browner is nothing special and never has been. At his best he was a #2 corner in Seattle with the best free safety in the game watching his backside. Secondly, Revis was great in his heyday, but no amount of you calling him 6' tall is going to make him magically grow. Third, guys like you're listing don't grow on trees, and teams pick bust after bust after bust trying to find the guy who turns into a Sherman or a Talib. Go back and look at corners over 6' that have been drafted high in recent years and you'll see far more busts and average (at best) players than stars. Happens every year: Gilbert, Dennard, Milliner, Kirkpatrick, etc.

Yeah, we all want the guy who has it all. The reality is that those guys are not common, and if you force a pick to get a corner because he's tall, you're chances of actually getting a good player are way, way less than 50/50. That's just reality. Our front office has to draft in the real world, not some fantasy world where 6'2" Revises are littering the draft like discarded trash.
