This morning I got up and took a walk around 4:30am, the temp was very nice around mid 40's and it looks like it will be a really nice day.
I stood for a while at the corner of Casino and N' Shore just looking at the stadium, collecting my thoughts.
The past couple years has been tough. It's never a good feeling when you are losing your Franchise QB and a good team is aging and a bit overpriced.
I feel like this team is a bit like the old jalopy I drove (or rather sometimes drove) while in college... sometimes it would start, and on those lucky days
it was an adventure to drive, shaking and rattling and you just never knew when it was going to just die and I would be walking in the rain or blistering cold.

The front office has changed. We have no idea what plans they are drawing up for a rebuild.
I would hope that they are making up lists and working with scouting to develop those lists.
That list is probably lengthy.
The point is, the projected fixes for this season have not worked out and show no signs of ever going to.
So one has to take his Excel spreadsheet and calculate the dead cap money for potential cuts, and balance those to the path forward and have enough cap space to get some players in that can play.

The way I view this season is that it is an audition for players who want to stay.
As far as a coaching, there is some theory of Tomlin being afraid to hire coaches that might challenge his standing. I think if he plans on staying this is a real test.
Austin really hasn't shown anything special, yes there are injuries but those are part of the game.
The bigger mystery is the offense. Kenny Pickett is showing signs of promise and maybe we see what the real offense can look like, but again, injuries are clouding the picture.
Tomlin knows exactly what is going on or should. The decisions need to be made be they made either way.
I think even more so, is whether he decides to call it day, and in that case life in yinzer-land becomes very interesting. That's a complete shake up and with zero certainty.

Yeah, a lot of thoughts and memories. Good luck Steelers would love to get a win here.

Tom Brady doesn't need to practice; he's probably practiced every NFL offensive play known 100's of times over.

Four defensive backs, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and cornerbacks Cam Sutton, Levi Wallace and Ahkello Witherspoon are all inactive.

 

I'm down to some of my darker superstitions and rituals. Whatever it takes.
