At what point do they just go to flag football? Covering WRs and TEs is already near impossible because you can't touch them. The hit on a defenseless receiver is often a questionable call already and now this clown wants to protect the WR legs too? His reasoning is flawed though (I know, shocking). A QB's legs are only protected when he's standing in the pocket, once he leaves you can hit him low to tackle him. Linemen and LB's leg's are protected during blocking. But if one intercepts a ball or picks up a fumble, they can be hit in the legs.

Wideouts today are big strong guys. If you make it so you can't tackle their legs, they'll be even more unstoppable IMO.

Was Brady calling for this rule change with Rodney Harrison was taking out people's knees?

I've not seen this story, but can believe Brady would be asking for it...

I do wonder how many leg injuries are the results of people playing above the waistline in the first place - awkward falling, rolling up, planting their feet wrong.

Maybe the Steelers analyst can look at that. Not sure what else he's doing.

Tom should just say what he means, "Patrots receiver's legs should be protected" Whenever a new rule proposal is floated, all I can think of is the "Point-Counterpoint" scene in "Airplane"
"....They knew the risks. I say, let 'em crash!"

They should adjust the rule about going up top so that incidental helmet to helmet contact doesn't draw a flag. How many times do you see a good hard hit but then there is incidental contact and it draws a flag. They'll never change it because they want to protect themselves from lawsuits but that is what is driving everybody to go low.

They've made it impossible to play defense, if you want to protect the legs, tweak the rules for going up top.

I think they can adjust the rule in game and allow for it to be reviewable like targeting is in college football. How many times has a defender gone low only to have the receiver duck down to protect themselves which causes helmet to helmet. I don't want to see any more stoppages but I think this would help them get it right AND protect the players.

You have to tackle the huge wide receivers and tight ends low.

    It is what it is.

If they made a rule saying you couldn't hit Gronk in the legs it would eliminate DBs. You would have linebackers playing DB. 230+

QBs have to try and protect their WRs. Peyton gets his receivers killed all the time. Ben rarely gets his hurt.
