He did cite one source - Antonio Brown. If AB84 is saying that and Tomlin is benching him due to a spat between the two, then he's not putting the best players on the field. Why not bench him for one game (if the New England rumor is true, it would have been week 2) and get on with it? Instead he wants to extend that "punishment" out over the season and hurt the team by fielding inferior players?? I guess we'll never know the real story until Boykin goes somewhere else next year and is asked questions about his time in Pittsburgh or some of the Steelers speak out on the matter.

This is bad player management by Tomlin

Maybe Boykin isn't as good as Steelers fans seem to think he is.

He is as good as we think he is, just because tomlin likes to play politics in his own ignorant way, he's keeping a play maker off the field:

It’s not surprising that Philadelphia Eagles fans would be disappointed by news that Brandon Boykin was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers over the weekend. The 25-year-old cornerback had become something of a fan favorite around the City of Brotherly Love, and with good reason. Boykin finished tied for second in the NFL with six interceptions in 2013, including his pick to clinch an NFC East championship against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17. And while there was a perception last season was not his best, the Eagles’ “slot specialist” produced the second-best stop rate in coverage of any defensive back in the league based on advanced metrics by Football Outsiders.

I don't think it's as simple as that. I mean, it might be - I don't know. But if I was a HC, here's what I'd be thinking:

If this guy has a problem with coaching decisions, can I depend on him to follow any in-game changes? Do I trust him to make the right adjustments according to what's getting called in, even if he doesn't agree with it himself? Has he shown to me that he's going to be the right guy to have on those crucial 3rd downs that decide the game?

This would, of course, depend on the coaching staff making in-game adjustments, so maybe it's an irrelevant point.

Something else: AB is talking about "going up against" Boykin - that doesn't necessarily include an appraisal of his run support, blitzing, etc.

I don't think Boykin's issue was with the game plan, it was his playing time. If Boykin approached the staff in the wrong manner, that's on him and I would think the better route would be to make him inactive for a game if it was that bad. Why take a talented player off the field for weeks because of a "I want to show him who's boss" mentality. He could've done that with the inactive status and moved on.

I would have thought Brown's assessment would include all those variables if he was asked who's the best CB in practice. I'm trying to find the Dulac interview to see what exactly was said.

an article I read said Tomlin and Butler prefer Blake because his best attribute is confidence
    REALLY ?????
all the confidence in the world doesn't equal performance
they say Blake doesn't let the last bad play bother him.
DUH because he has zero fear off being yanked by our head coach who is a secondary genius in play, players, playmaking.

    NOT.

I don't see another trade in the works, as much as I would love to get Sean Smith. We have already given up two picks and so far neither one has contributed. One is gone and the other might as well be...

If Boykin flat out challenged Tomlin and disrespected him ... then I guess I don't have a huge problem with his lack of playing. It's a team and the coach has to protect that. I'm pretty sure any good coach would have sent Boykin a very loud message if that is in fact what happened. Boykin is the one that would need to man up and go apologize to Tomlin. If Boykins ego is so out of control that he won't... then let him rot on the bench.

Steelers fans making Boykin out to be Revis like , he's probably better than Blake and should be playing more. We don't know if there's a rift between Boykin and Tomlin, I need more proof than some fan on a blog site citing sources .

I don't see anyone on here making him out to be revis like. What I do see is everyone miffed at the fact that he isn't playing when he has some pretty good game tape to suggest that he can play. Maybe he isn't even better than Blake, but we'll never know with Tomlin on record pace to break the boneheaded coach award with some of his choices and moves thus far.

As bad as Blake has played he must have been caught running a Train on Coach T'S Wife to not be playing ...

I would settle for a Revis Mud Puddle at this point never mind a Island type of player....

My real question is this: is Gay a better outside corner than Blake? I believe he is. If I'm right, why not replace Blake with Gay and let Boykin play the slot?

I mean, I get it that they like Gay in the slot but will there be that much of a drop off with Boykin there? We may lose a little in the slot but we'd gain a lot on the outside.
