what is wrong with this kid?

All World, All Pro one year, in the gutter the next - back and forth. 2018 sucked - 2019 - 2021, was top tier and back to suck again. His kicking game is like my golf game - except that I don't get paid $4M a year. He NEEDS to be better.

Cost us a game (or 2?) this year.

Makes WAY too much money to SUCK this bad.

He needs to pushed hard in the offseason, bring in competition for next year, and maybe we get ready to move on from him......

    Figure it out coaches.....

Which game did he cost the Steelers? Remember, he didn't actually miss a field goal in the first meeting with the Ravens. It was blocked. That was a protection issue, not the kicker.

He definitely isn't the same kicker this year. Part of that is the injury. He has been shaky since returning. The long snaps have been inconsistent, too. That doesn't help.

I read somewhere that the team is going to bring in competition for next year and they should. Boswell isn't living up to his past performance or his current contract right now. Hopefully, he can right the ship, as he did the last time he had a crappy season.

40 yards and out is of concern, although he must have a sweet spot at 50+
I was surprised they just didn't IR him and go with Wright.

In hindsight, that is what they should have done, though Write was really hurting them on kickoffs.

I think he’s becoming a headache for the Steelers. That clip earlier this year after the game. His brother is always on Twitter running his mouth. His play is slipping this year. Too much drama for a kicker who isn’t Justin Tucker.

I would agree he needs to be pushed. I think his injury is not right yet.
The past two weeks, he’s really struggled, going 5-for-8 on field-goal tries and his touchback percentage on kickoffs this season is 45.5%, which is his lowest since 2019.
He missed two long attempts in the cold weather on Christmas Eve in Pittsburgh against the Las Vegas Raiders. Let's face it, kicking a football that day was like kicking a watermelon.
Boswell owns a career 86.2% field-goal percentage, but he’s posted a field-goal percentage below 70% in two of the last five seasons.

I can think of a ton of Pro's in every sport that that statement pertains to.

Been kind of a hard year on the kickers league wide...

Even Justin Tucker has looked human a few times and actually missed or had some blocked this year.

I'll give Boswell the benefit of the doubt. That some of it may be his hamstring still.

The Raiders game is a tough to judge. Due to weather. Not the best still, but if I'm Tomlin I'm not kicking a 53 yarder there unless its to win the game.
I'm going for it on 4th and 5.

Last week end doinked one. But he made his other others.

Its not like he is missing terrible most of been very close misses.

But bring a youngster in to challenge him. I'm always looking for younger and cheaper if I am Omar Kahn.

You people act like this exact same thing didn't happen last time He got paid.
I even brought this up before He signed the new contract. Hell I've brought it up since, but apparently most skip what I write.
Go back ,and look at the last season He got paid. Same thing different day.
He is still great. He will pull out of it like He did last time.

He's not driving the ball like he normally does. The missed field goals start off between the uprights, then drift. That could certainly be the injury and, in the game against the Raiders, the cold.

What You are not saying is....He has already tied His most attempts of 50 , or more yards this season, and He has only played 11 games....yet this ties His most attempts at 50, or over .
    Context people.
Also He has had a worse percentage.....the last time He got paid.

He got engaged the week before the season started. When I saw the picture of his girlfriend I knew then he would have a subpar season. Like Mick told Rocky "Stay away from the girls they'll kill your legs!"

I'm not even going to use the green font because somethings are just that obvious.

"The long snaps have been inconsistent, too. That doesn't help."

I've been seeing that on punts too. Jesus, the long snapper has one job to do. This is where coaching has to be on point. ST coach has to see that trend and fix it. Just like the celebration penalties, etc. Pouncey snapping over Ben's head if I recall was the culmination of several bad snaps throughout that season, which happens but not to that degree but it happens, but then you see the QB and Center practicing on the sidelines. I remember Peyton doing that a few times when he had some bad exchanges. The devil is in the details and the little details matter. That's where I think our coaching staff many times misses it, because recurring problems don't appear to be fixed. e.g. We should never ever see a post TD penalty from a player ever coming off the bench undressed.[/QUOTE]
