Good kickers don't grow on trees but keeping one bad apple can spoil the bunch.

Maybe if Boz nailed the 48 yard fg we would feel differently but he's been historically bad this year.

    How bad is historical? Well...

Even taking the emotion out of the arguement he has been very inaccurate this year. And with the season on the line or if we need a game winning field goal in the AFC Championship I don't want to have to rely on Boz. There, I said it.

BOZ has to go the way of Steve Sax and Steve Blass (a hero to me)

The kicking game is very very psychological.... a bad run can really mess them up and thats what I've seen with BOZ... I think that kick in that moment last night is the type of kick he needed to get his mind right again. I say give him a another chance.

I'm not ready to write him off yet. That field goal was huge for more reasons than just the 3 points. After missing a chip shot combined with the year he has had, to come back and kick it dead center, well let's see where his head is at next game.

The Boswell thing reminds me of the Gerela days when every FG attempt was an adventure.

This is the same guy who made a pro bowl last year. The Steelers got themselves into a bad pickle with the contract the gave him. Unless they want to eat a ton of dead money among the cap space, which they don't. They are sticking with him.

Very odd he seems to struggle from about 33 to 43 yard Field goals (which are also extra points) give him the 45-50 and he's nailing them.

But, that 48 yarder was a huge one, maybe that helps him turn the corner and find himself.

I hope so, too. But what worries me is that they showed him missing in pre-game. That tells me he's either overthinking it, or something is wrong with his mechanics all of a sudden.

If the turn around for him starts with the win over the Patsies and he finishes the season strong, then he is not done.

I feel he needs to be replaced, but I really just don't know of who could replace him and do any better.

The two kickers the Steelers brought in last week didn't really make me optimistic.

And who do they sign that’s an upgrade? It’s that simple.

I'm betting Kai Forbath got released for reasons similar to Boswell's.

Just go for it, no more FGs.
A FG miss gives the ball right there anyway.

It said during the game that the Steelers had brought a couple kickers in this week. I wonder what happened there? Were they just really bad or what? Or was that just to scare Boz? Which doesn't seem like such a great idea for a guy who's really struggling as it is.

I read that is wasnt so much what the other kickers did as what Bos did. I guess Bos was nailing every kick during practice which made Tomlin have faith in him.. It was essentially a Try out for Bos i guess and he made almost every kick.

I'm going to make this really simple for those of you that want him gone, cut, kicked to the road or whatever ridiculous statement you want to make. His contract is structured so that the dead money against next year's cap would be at least half if not more of the savings they made by Bell sitting out. So kiss 9 million of that 14.5 goodbye. That also means that if you are having any thoughts about FA CB's, ILB's, OLB''s or any other coveted free agents you just lost half your money to lure them in.

So if Patrick Peterson asks for a trade or release after proving he didn't quit on the team and the Card's grant his request, the one time the Steelers would have had money to make a play at an elite shut down corner will have been wasted because they just had to cut Boz.
