Like Boomer said, he would have gotten his ass kicked. Hoyer gives them a better chance, his experience alone makes him more of a threat then a rookie. DL was hoping for him, he destroys rookies. I'd say the reason he thought he'd play was because of pressure to put him out there. Kudos to the Browns for not buckling.

Normally a rookie QB not starting right away isn't such a bad thing. But when you can't beat out a journeyman backup QB who is having an awful preseason, then it's very telling. Guy has B-U-S-T written all over him. I like the Ryan Leaf comparo.

To be fair to Hoyer and Manziel their WRs and TEs dropped a lot of passes in the preseason. I don't think it matters who starts for them at QB if Josh Gordon gets suspended their offense is going to struggle.

A number of those drops were the QBs throwing behind the WR or too high. At least thats what I saw

True but Josh Gordon doesn't look like the same player as last season, his coach told him he wanted to see more effort from him.

Always the hype. How well one played in college and that unbelievable performance one had in the "big game". Then, they play in the AFC N, reality strikes.

Browns just need to move out of the Division to ever get away from the Steelers, Ravens defense to ever establish a qb.

Like I was saying we have serious problems with running lanes and keeping contain. I bet you Cleveland is rethinking their starter. Our CB'S are not all world so it would be the perfect game to Start Johnny. As stated I am glad they chose not to.

Yeah, I remember that big TX game and all the hype afterwards. Same thing as now, let's start him against the Steelers and get a win. Then, "the hit", they had to literally walk him to the sideline.

Haven't heard anything from him since...

After the last two years of this defense I don't take any quarterback for granted. We've seen Tebow, the quarterback from the Ravens (he was a rookie) and plenty other mediocre quarterback beat our defense.

LeBeau has only lost to 2 rookies, one was 29 year old Weeden, hardly a young kid who are much more likely to get rattled, not to mention have no idea how to deal with zone blitzing yet.
