Top 5 defense? Id say Top 10 might be possible. Not Top 5, not yet... too many young guys on this team right now.

Take Aways... Its not coming from the DB's unless Cortez and Senquez turn into Revis and Deion Sanders. Otherwise the onus is all on our LB's. All four of them will need to have career years for that to happen.

take aways don't all have to come from DB's but we sure could use some more from them. stripping the ball out on tackles needs to increase by the whole defense and i don't think thats something that was high on DL's list of teachings, at least not as much as some teams work on it. it can be taught, and i think KB will. he will have his hands full this year as he takes over, so porter and lake and mitchell need to work with their players on this. 'm not sure of where this team stood as far as fumbles created, but i'm guessing it's low like we were on interceptions.

Long, long time fan. :) New to this Board...

I absolutely love this offense. It could very well be #1 in the league.

I still have concerns about the Defense. I'm feeling better about the front 7. Jones needs to show more explosiveness this year and I hope Mc boys provide good NT play. I am still not sure the secondary is good enough. Can Allen figure things out; I believe he has all the physical skills. Is Shamarko ready? I think Golson can help in the slot but I don't believe he can play the outers in the NFL. Still wish they'd have done more for the secondary during the draft. Hopefully Carnell coaches 'em up!

How bout this. #1 offense, good front 7, with a healthy Ben, Bell, and Brown.... anything's possible.

people seem to be writing off grant and he is going to surprise a lot of people down the road. it's already been said he is getting time in front of golson already in the OTA's. he's going to be the better outside corner over golson down the line and that is no dig on golsons abilities. he will have his place also. just because goson was a 2nd rounder doesn't mean he is pegged for the next outside starting corner. they definitely drafted 2 very good ones this year.

Its funny because back in the Blitzburgh days with Lloyd, Woodson, and Carnell Lake the whole defense, LB's and DB's alike, were great at stripping the ball. Analysts would talk about how Dom Capers would run drills to make them better at stripping the ball.

the better teams at doing it, practice it as a point of emphasis. it is like anything else practiced a lot, it becomes second nature.
