Yep. HBO told them this is the last year, they time skipped and rushed to get to an ending...

And it failed. I thought True Blood's last season was bad. This was worse because this WAS a good show.

I called that kid being Tommy from the day he showed up. Sloppy. Lazy. Pointless. Yeah, Nucky did a bad bad thing when he was young because he let ambition get in the way of what he knew was right and wrong. I get it. But like Gillian was some innocent victim now? Do we need to remember what she did to Jimmy? Or some poor kid who looked like him? Tommy was also in a good family. I don't buy this story at all. Jeez! Nucky should have been the one who set up that meeting for Luciano and the heads of the families if they wanted to go with history! And yeah, if you're going to play with the history, why bother killing Rothstein off camera in the year he should have died?

And don't get me started on Chalky...

Just finished watching the finale. I'm not sure how I feel about it. The final season did seem lazy to me in lots of ways, and obviously it was rushed.

I always knew Nucky was going to bite it in the end. I knew the kid was going to be a major player somehow, but I didn't make the Darmody connection. Hated Chalky's ending.

 

Yeah, I didn't figure out who the kid was either, good job by Ray

 

Well, he was about the right age, and they kept focusing on him.

And I STILL think it was sloppy and lazy. Especially the "twist" just to have a twist. It wasn't earned.

 

Totally agree, if they were going to do that at all, should have been Charlie or Chalkie or just about any character who was more integral to the show instead of some kid you threw in just for shock value.
