To be fair other teams haven't played their 4th game lol. We hit him about 27% of his drop backs and sacked him the most this season.

Needs to get better but the rush and pass D were looking good. at the sake of giving up the run, I might add. Still, much better and it was great knowing that someone could bust through and get to Waco and it was great seeing solid coverage on receivers.

Defense are making a name for themselves. They have to have about 10 sacks already this season. Butler get some love here

Get Big Dan healthy and he might be able to put a road block on those runs up the middle.

Captain obvious it mentions that in the article the Steelers and Ravens are the only teams that played 4 games. But still the Steelers pass rush has shown improvement over the last few seasons.

They have 14 sacks, which puts them on pace for 56 sacks for the season :applaud:

I am not going to argue Steelers have showed improvement, because they have. It's a great feeling. Losing on a game that was won on the other hand..

Don't get me wrong, I love that Pittsburgh is finally getting to the quarterback after being in the bottom 5 the past 3-4 years. However, some of the blitz calls on Thursday had me scratching my head and really cost us the game. We had Flacco and the Ravens on a 4th and 10 to seal the game for us, and we send and all-out blitz???? 4th and 10 and we send an all-out blitz.....when we know our secondary is by far the worst group on our team. I forget who Flacco threw to but it went for about 25 yards. I just didn't understand that strategy at all. I love that the blitzes have been more effective, but we need to be smarter about when to use them.

just checked and we are still leading with 14 sacks, after the afternoon game updates. 2nd place is St Louis. Dallas and Saints play tonight but Saints only have 4 and Dallas have 3 which means most likely we will be #1 through out 4 games. Good job Butler!

Welcome to blitzburgh we used to do that all the time. Would you rather that or drop 8 and give the QB 2.5 months to throw the ball.

Considering we gave up 25 yards on that play by bringing the house, I would have liked to see us put a little less pressure on the secondary to seal the deal.

I like the aggressiveness. The issue is stopping the run. It's still early and Butler is breathing life into a Defense that was dying the past few seasons. The arrow is on the upswing. Now to get McCullers healthy so we don't have to see Tomato Can Thomas on the field.

This defense can be a top 10 defense. Did I just say that...

The way Succo was throwing the ball into the dirt when he was faced with pressure, I liked our chances by being aggressive and not going into prevent. It's calls like that that can really shape a defense and pay dividends later in the season. Build a nasty attitude to go with some nasty players.

Well tbh seeing how our secondary is the weak link in our D I can understand why we would apply pressure in that situation. Our blitzing had been fairly effective, no? I hate laying back and giving QBs all day to find an open receiver. And Scobee cost us the game imo.

They were effective, I definitely agree with that. And I would have been all for it on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd down. But with a 4th and 10 and the game on the line, bringing an all-out blitz is essentially putting all of the pressure on our secondary to cover not only their man, but the open space in the middle as well. Our secondary is not nearly good enough to do that, especially with the game of the line. I would have sent two and dropped two back in coverage. All the more reason why Shazier being out of this game hurt us tremendously. I absolutely would have kept him back.
