First off Tomlin's off my Christmas card list.
I just have a hard time believing that these losses are all on just Tomlin. We have position coaches who are working directly with their respective groups. How is it guys like Munchak and Haley who were both head coaches are not getting their groups ready? Tomlin oversees these assistants, but all of these guys can't be dropping the ball, they have to be coaching their players up?
Something is definitely a miss though.
For me personally it's hard to for an opinion on some of this stuff because I have no idea what goes on outside of what I see in the media, which I'm sure is a very small sample.

One thing that didn't sit well with me though was Tomlin's post game press conference. When asked questions about the game his was response was something along the lines of "we're not living in the past we're moving on to the next game" If you're going to make comments like "we'll own this loss" and then basically refuse to talk about it afterwards that's Chicken **** IMO.

I'm not on the fire Tomlin Bandwagon. I think he's a good coach and the best option for us at this time. He has his flaws for sure, but what coach doesn't?
I'm confident he'll pull this team together and we'll still make a run this year.

Tomlin is part of it and so is Colbert. The lack of talent on the team in quite a few positions is ridiculous.

I never understood myself where the "Tomlin is why we lose to inferior teams" modus operandi originated from.

If players like Stephon Tuitt, the entire EDGE rushing group, David DeCastro and Sammie Coates step up, then Pittsburgh would be looking at 6-2 or even 7-1.

You're not owning the loss if you gloss over it and look to the next week.

Fine prepare for the Cowboys. I think you should start with "Hey the way we played The Ravens.., all in favor of NOT replicating that play?"

Can't get that mindset if its glossed over, so hopefully hes just doing that in interviews, not with the players.

    Stop making excuses.

Tomlin has a big hand in the talent the team drafts and develops. This is no longer a team of Cowher's players. This now almost entirely a Tomlin operation.

    How's that going?

I'll tell you what the problem is: he has no handle on it. At all. In any capacity. I will compare this to what's going on across the pond, with my favorite EPL team, Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp came on board a year ago. He had a plan: he knew how he wanted his team to play, cut the players who couldn't do it, went out and got the players who could, and within a year he changed the make-up and culture of the team. Right now, Liverpool is in first place. That's why he was hired.

Liverpool is a soccer staple, a proud team with a fanbase similar to the Steelers'. The sports are very different, but one thing is true no matter what: men who know how to build and coach winners (Belichick, Popovich, Jackson, Riley, Parcells, Walsh, Scotty Bowman) start with a mindset. Cowher was of this ilk, too. He wasn't as good a coach, but he knew how to create a culture and an attitude: this is how we are going to play, this is what we are going to do. This is why the Cowher/Donahue drafts have been far better than the Tomlin/Donahue drafts.

I feared that Tomlin was clueless from day one. In the short term, it may have seemed smart to keep things "in place" from Cowher's regime, but in the long-term, this has been disastrous. Tomlin never put his stamp on this team the way Noll did in 1969 or Cowher did in 1992. It's hard to have "control" of a team when you have no mindset, no identity, no guiding philosophy.

Exactly. This is obviously one of Tomlin's major flaws. Obviously.

William Gay was drafted by Colbert/Tomlin in '07. Ben and James Harrison are the last of the Mohicans.

Tomlins job is to motivate his assistant coaches to coach these kids up, it's not a lack of talent it's the lack of coaching to put these players in the best position to win, didnt you watch the game last night, the seahawks was up against the cap so they had to let all their high paid oline go, their highest paid lineman is 9 mill, they have a left tackle who never played in college, yet Tom Cable has coached them up to work their butts off, we have a very highly paid oline that is super under performing, is munchak being to soft on these guys, well it's tomlins job to tell him he better start bringing the heat on these guys to perform at a lot higher level and he needs to get haley and butler to start coaching up their kids as well, the whole coaching staff is too complacent and seems to be un motivated and that bleeds down to the players.....

The Seahawks have a difficult time running the ball and Wilson is taking a beating as a result of the offensive line play.

The Steelers offensive line gave Ben time to throw the ball vs the Ravens. One issue is that Ben struggled in the game and the penalties hurt. When the QB doesn't make the right decisions or throws the ball inaccurately then the offense will have a difficult time moving the ball and scoring. Most points in the NFL are generally generated as a direct result of the passing game. The offense will continue to struggle to score regardless of how well they can run the ball if Ben continues to play poorly. Forget all the other smoke and mirrors. The offense is going to live and die by the way Ben performs.

I have been a Tomlin supporter and I still am. But I have my limits. This team has enough talent to compete well against the best and to stomp the mediocre. It is not happening. There is enough blame to go around but it starts with the people on top.

I'm of the opinion that it's time (or at least getting close) for someone new to come in and reinvigorate the organization. Whether or not Tomlin is a good coach or not is not my point with this: Things to me have looked stagnant for a while and as a result he's not going to get the most out of his players. If a change were to happen and the players responded better to a new direction (and on the field) then you know a time for a change was right. I think 10 years was enough.

How is it Tomlin's fault when your franchise QB plays like he does against Miami and Baltimore. Ben has the remarkable ability to insert his head so far up his ass at times that it becomes difficult to believe he is as good as he has shown at times. He has been wildly inconsistent and usually it's against the bottom feeders. I'm not sure Tomlin is a great coach at this point but the execution in that game was deplorable. Sammie dropped a TD pass in the back of the endzone. Tomlin? Ben overthrows a sure TD pass. Tomlin? I do believe the play calling in that game was deplorable in the first 3 quarters. Horrible. It seemed they were more afraid of Ben getting hurt than winning the game. I think Tomlin has a lot of blame for the last three losses despite the injuries. I'm far from ready to say fire him but that performance against Baltimore pointed out that this team was NOT ready to play. If you're afraid of getting Ben hurt sit him one more game and throw Landry in there. It has been pointed out to me that there was another kicker that actually executed that stupid onsides try. Tomlin says they practiced it and he was good with it That is troubling to me as well. I never for a second believed they actually practiced that idiotic kick and then would attempt it in the game. So Tomlin shares a ton of blame for that loss. Execution folks. It was NOT there. Ben couldn't hit anything the first half. He played horrible. Ben needs to be the QB we think he is even when coming back from an injury. He stunk it up. Defense gave up 14 points. Played really well. Something smells about this offense. I don't think you have to look any further than our franchise QB
