The coaching staff likes Blake because of his toughness, it doesn't mean he's any good. They had him covering AJ Green one on one .

Honestly I can live with Blake. I know he's not the best, but he fits our defense perfectly. He plays tough, and when he gets his hands on the ball he picks it. I'm not saying he's a guy I want to start every week, but he definitely has a place on our football team being the top back up corner and ST player.

Let's hope that Golson works out in the slot, and we can stick Gay and Cockrell outside with Golson in the slot. Then Blake would be top back up with Grant (if he stays at CB) and a draft pick this year. Seems pretty good to me.

Here's what I think they look for on a CB's resume: "Are you willing to play 30 yards off the line of scrimmage on nearly every play?" LOL!

    I tend to agree.

Blake has done well in the past, playing well above his level. Yes, he has been burned and made to look foolish of late. But this is a defensive secondary that seems to make a habit of getting confused about who is covering who. On at least few plays, Blake's mistake was to think he had safety cover when he didn't, for example.

I just don't understand for the life of me what's going on with Boykin. Who made the decision to trade for him and give up a valuable draft pick and then not play the guy? You say it's only a 5th rounder but there's a certain WR on our team who was a 6th rounder and there's another pretty good quarterback playing in the league who's a 6th rounder. Lightning in a bottle does happen and there are many examples of mid to lower round draft picks who have gone on to have productive and, at times, spectacular careers.

Anyway, if Tomlin made the decision or if he and Colbert collaborated on the decision and now Tomlin doesn't play him, that's just seems stupid to me. If Colbert wanted to make the trade and Tomlin didn't (which I doubt), could there be a rift or power struggle between the two and is Tomlin letting his pettiness shine through? Tomlin's not petty you say. I remember him cutting his nose off to spite his face a few years ago in Oakland when he benched both Mendenhall and Dwyer for fumbling and went most of the game with the woman beater from Florida, Chris Rainey. He had our best two running backs, who were perfectly healthy, on the bench for nearly 3 quarters of that game. I'm sorry, but I do question Tomlin's judgment at times and I think his clock management skills and other in-game coaching decisions are symptomatic of his judgment. Just an honest observation.

Boykin was a good CB in Philly and seems to be a playmaker. When he's gotten on the field in Pittsburgh he's represented well and has made plays. Blake has struggled in coverage and is leading the league in missed tackles and is ranked near the bottom of the list by PFF for cornerbacks. I just don't get it. I'm fairly confident that Boykin can't be any worse and may be appreciably better. Somebody help me understand!

Our DB situation is a joke ...Blake would make a nice 4th. or 5th. CB and that's about it ....It took like 10 years to turn Gay into that ...We need better Clay if we intend to sculpt a piece that has more worth ..Can't keep putting sprinkles on top of crap and calling it a Sundae....

seems to be a no brainer
I hope it isn't a spite thing by our coach.
I'm still holding out on the sandbagging scheme and we spring it on the opponent at the right time .

1000% agree here. Ike Taylor anyone? How long did we have to suffer week after week with him until he got himself removed via injury?
