And who by the way has anointed Matakevich with a nickname as Dirty Red??? Just because he has Red hair!!! That accolade is for players who have set themself apart from their teammates...seems alittle premature or maybe someone needs a hero. Matakevich has made a handful of good plays but hes unproven at this point. Next thing you know someone will want to nickname Burns ""Heart-burns""Just saying!!

That was his nickname coming out of college and Tomlin decided to keep it.

He didn't do bad for himself as a first year starter and a ST player.

Link to the Bronko Nagurski award page...They don't just give that out and there's some pretty solid NFL players on that list.

Link to the Chuck Bednarik award page...Ditto

I have high hopes he can at least be a productive backup. He has the smarts for it. Be a shame to see Belichick get his hands on him...

Yeah..so far so good he's very productive from what I've seen of him. He has alot of promise and upside and could play for the Steelers for sometime. Hey rookie year out of the way!!! We shall see...wishing him the best fits the type of players the Steelers need.Go Steelers
