I like it, but am a little surprised tbh given how he left. Water under the bridge I guess.

Yeah, I recall he wasn't happy about Tomlin getting the job over Grimm or Whiz

I just thought he wanted more money than they were willing to pay.

No he was very much in the wanting Grimm or Whiz camp and wasn't happy about Tomlin and basically ignored the oline coach they hired saying the players basically were in charge

He also wasn't happy with Ben starting as a rookie, but we all know how these decisions worked out don't we?

I barely recognized him. He looks like half of Alan Faneca.

Obviously the forgetful/forgiving half. Perhaps it's having Munch as his immediate upper that attracted him more than Tomlin as HC.

Looking at the path of the three the Steelers clearly made the right decision so maybe Faneca is like hey you were right I'm over it my bad.

This also speaks volumes of Tomlin because he very easily have held a grudge. Munch and Faneca coaching up the line that can't be a bad thing.

Unless you are a franchise QB, players will probably not see a huge third contract
from the PGH STEELERS.. Ask Peazy, Faneca. Big Red still the best guard to ever strap on PGH Steeler helmet.

I think your right. And maybe that's a good thing in today's NFL. With all the concussion talk; What if every team in the league put players on notice that your only going to get two big money contracts in your career in the NFL? Wouldn't that put the pressure on the players to financially plan better? And if so, then you could leave the league relatively healthy and live a great life afterwards.

I'm just dreaming out loud. LOL

He signed with the jets for 5 years 40 million in 08, today thats about average for top 10 guards who arent even close to his talent level when he was playing in his prime, we will probably pay more than that to sign Decastro and you can say in 08 that faneca got over market value but he was worth every penny as the best left guard in the league at the time, we wanted to low ball him and we haven't replaced him to this day..........

Hope this works out more positively than the former CB turned coach Carnell Lake experiment has so far. Sometimes loyalty to former players from the organization seems to be a stretch. I like Faneca and all but it seems like a roll of the dice with some former players looking for employment opportunities in the NFL. No harm, no foul though cause it's just for OTA's and mini camp at the moment which is probably more like a probationary period would be in any other industry. I do wish him the best of luck though.

It's a very surprising move given how he loved to speak his mind and was never a PC unlike the coach that he will be working for.

Peezy on defense and Faneca on the offense should at least keep the players attitudes in check if nothing else.

Perhaps that has more to do with the ingredients than the chef. When you desperately need a cornerback and fail to draft one in the first round for, I dunno, about twenty years, you can't expect your DB coach to turn water into wine.

A lot of those guys look like that after their playing days after they stop juic . . . um, eating lots of carbs.

Aaron Smith looks like a skeleton.

Check out Brett Keisel's Facebook page today where he shares a picture of Heath Miller at a mini-golf place. I couldn't find Heath. Turns out he was the skinny nerd in the middle of the picture.

These guys tend to drop A LOT of weight after they're done.

He made it well known that he didn't want Tomlin and was unhappy with him as the Head Coach.

He also made it clear he wasn't happy with Ben being the starter. (probably because he saw him acting like a jerk and had his concerns...)

He wasn't going to get that kind of money as a guard in Pittsburgh. It's not about low-balling.

Yeah - interestingly, Porter also had issues with Ben acting like a jerk, as I recall.

Jets may have signed him for 5 years but they dumped him after 2. Considering the bonus money, that was a very bad signing. Arizona tried him and it didn't work out. His play was declining. Steelers were right in not signing him.

Faneca made the probowl the year the Jets cut him not quite in decline as you say, he collected about 27 million of that contract money from the jets in two years, not a bad payday for 2 years, and he could have played another year for the cards but he decided to retire, he had a great career and he didnt owe the steelers nothing, they got basically free play out of him while he was here...
