I was watching NFL Network Gameday this morning and Ian Rappoport reported Ben would explore trade options according to sources. They mentioned the obvious Arizona Cardinals from Mike Silver because of the Arians connection, they did say he would prefer to finish his career in Pittsburgh. I'm sure the Steelers are frustrated with Ben also with the 3 or 4 turnovers per game and taking too many sacks holding onto the ball too long. I would trade Ben to Arizona for DE Calais Campbell and CB Patrick Peterson, they said it was a developing story.

I wish I could get a peak at Ian's source list. I think it's pretty much horse poop.

he's got two years remaining here right? maybe they have quietly asked him about a pay cut? maybe he doesn't want to go through another OC before he's done? maybe like TTF says it's horse poop? ya gotta love a good conspiracy theory or two around here. plenty of drama this year and going into next. tighten up your seat straps boyzzzz. it's gonna be a bumpy landing around here.

3-4 turnovers per game? He has 9 picks and 5 lost fumbles in 8 games.

Get this guy some friggin' protection and it's game over.

The Steelers and himself have shortened his career by 2-3 years. He won't be giving the hometown discount. If the Steelers are going
to keep him, they are going to PAY.

I would definitely not leave a stone unturned. Maybe we get a second and they take his salary. Let's up rebuild in some areas. Especially around a rookie quarterback. What made Ben successful early was he had a good team around him. Maybe we get a "game manager" and build around him.

LMAO off at this thread! 3-4 turnovers a game :lolol: The reality isn't quite as bad as people think so they have to make **** up. Peyton has 6 INT's and 4 FL, Brees has 7 INT's, awful close to Ben but hey, guess if some of you really believe Ben has 24-32 turnovers, that could explain your angst.

Also, Ian is a total Steelers hater, guy has no credibility when it comes to this team, his info is usually wrong.

The Steelers are 2-6 and things could get worse before they get better. The defense is suddenly in shambles, the salary cap situation is dire not only in 2014 but beyond, and franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has taken a beating this season, even by Big Ben standards.
Not surprisingly, Roethlisberger is frustrated. It starts with offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who will likely be fired after the season, but it extends to other coaches as well, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
What is surprising, however, is that Big Ben could also want out of Pittsburgh.
"Steelers sources tell me to expect Roethlisberger to ask [the organization] in the offseason to explore possible trade options," Rapoport said Sunday morning. "The Steelers did field trade offers for Big Ben last offseason, they're expected to do so again this offseason. I asked a Steelers source would they actually trade their franchise quarterback and the response I got was 'No, unless we could replace him with a franchise quarterback.'"
There's also Roethlisberger's contract, which runs through the 2015 season. His cap hit is $17.9 million in '14 and $17.4 million the following year. And if he were traded in the offseason the Steelers would eat more than $11 million in dead money, a huge deterent for an already cap-strapped organizaiton.
Meanwhile, NFL Network's Mike Silver reports that Big Ben wants to finish his career in Pittsburgh, adding: "However, if it does come to the point where the team wants to trade him, keep an eye on the Arizona Cardinals."
Bruce Arians, the head coach in Arizona, was Roethlisberger's coordinator with the Steelers. Not only did they win two Super Bowls together, they're good friends.
We wrote earlier this season that the Giants should consider trading Eli Manning if they truly do believe they're in rebuilding mode. That same logic holds for the Steelers. If Pittsburgh's front office doesn't think the team is one or two players away from contending but more like 15-20, then a trade could make sense.
For now, Roethlisberger is stuck with Haley, at least for two more months.

I saw that piece on the NFL network this AM and came away with the idea of how may teams have a franchise 100 million dollar QB who is not happy the team. THey also mentioned he is not happy with the coaches, they did not spell out which coaches but how can a team move forward with a franchise QB who is in turmoil with the whole thing.....Would think having a great QB like Ben the team would do all it could to keep him happy, hope this doesn't develop into a bigger mess that it already is.

My feeling is that this is a calculated move by Someone's camp in an effort to write off the rest of the season and the poor play that it might contain.

Could be his agent whispering in ears to get an edge on extension talks, though honestly it's hard not to think that the editors at NFLN and co. assign stories to fellows like Ian for a quick Sunday morning report based on what they read on Steelers blogs and messages boards earlier in the week. :hmmm:

Many here like Kovacevic's point of view on the Steelers, and he had a few logical things to say about Ian's report.

Well the PFT article said that Ben was upset with the Steelers running the Wildcat.
As I recall we didn't run the wildcat at all last week, am I correct that we didn't ??

Nonsense, and the ones that calculate a round pick for a future HOF, Super Bowl winning QB that has changed the way teams draft for the position and the way said position is played is just utterly laughable.

I think many here would be shocked at the number of teams and which teams would be interested in Ben if he were ever really on the market.

And stop with the "he used to be good" nonsense, this guy, as it stands now, has plenty of football left in him if we can surround him with talent. sheeesh

I think the problem with a trade is his salary. I don't believe we will trade him. I just don't see a team giving up a high draft pick and taking on his salary. As far as his value, guys a winner and some of the spoiled fans forget that.
We were in the Super Bowl 2 1/2 years ago.

May be a bunch of crap but can you blame him. He knows he is on the downward side of his career so if he does not see another SB with us or hell even another playoff I don't blame him one bit. I hope he is just using this to get the eyes of the front office to wake up and wake up quick.
