Hope he stays - we just need to fix the D problems.

But as for TB retiring - why would he? With what they have going up there and how they protect him, dude will be around another 10 years.

That’s good news in more ways than one!I could see him saying”definitely next year” but three years means he’s really excited about something! That something is Haley is out of here!Hoping

I'll believe it when I see it. The defense has regressed so bad, it's gonna take 40+ points per game by the offense to win games in '18. I hope Ben is ready to sling it 40 times a game. Bell won't be back. Too many holes for another run.

The Steelers will be fun to watch like the early 80's Chargers with Fouts and Winslow.... but there won't be no Super Bowl runs.

'18 is gonna be fun. We get the NFC South. Falcons and Saints (if Brees returns) will be a blast. Those games will get up into the 50's on the scoreboard.

I'm serious. With the current state of our defense... and how explosive our offense can be... the scores will be something like:

    Steelers 59
    Saints 55

    Falcons 53
    Steelers 50

Eh I think a healthy toot and bud combined with some safeties should make our defense ok. Not good but ok.

    So Steelers 38 saints 31 ;)

Yeah, but we've needed to fix the D for years and I'd argue we're standing still at best, and probably actually going backwards

Still the Ben news is very good news!

I had a thought, though, and it's very cynical. What if Ben didn't call those QB sneaks on his own just to prove a point about Haley?

Man, I hope not. That's saying he essentially threw the game for spite.

I'm just speculating but after one of the failed 4th downs, they showed Ben on the sidelines walking past Haley and he turned and gave a look back like 'got me. you called the darn thing'

Do you think Ben has 3 more quality years left? Not sure that I do. I think come training camp 2020, he' ll be a middle of pack starter at best.

Ben cap hit for 2018 is 23.8 million, so he may sign a extension to lower his cap hit. The Steelers will need that cap space to sign free agents.

I recall seeing that same thing - didn't really put much weight to it at the moment, but I suppose anything's possible considering their (lack of a) relationship.
