If Ben would win the NFL MVP this year do you think it would have much of an impact on his personable reputation? When was the last time he was in a Commercial on a national level? Most of the other elite quarterbacks do big ads, but Ben not so much. Do you think an MVP award would help his marketabillity?

It can't hurt his appeal, that's for sure. It'll depend on how he handles it.

whether by choice or not, i believe staying out of the spotlight is a great move. with all the bad publicity he has gotten over the last few years he needs to stay low until he can win or come close to winning another super bowl. just keep flying under the radar.

don't care about NFL (regular season) MVP, P Manning was MVP countless times and he (and his team) still choked in the playoffs too often.

SB MVP on the other hand would be an award I'd love for Ben to get, a third ring and being MVP in one of those games should get him into the hall.

Exactly how I feel. Besides, I don't see Ben being named league MVP this year.

As far as endorsements go, I assumed it was because of the negative publicity he's received in the past.

Just keep winning. One more ring and his place in Canton it will be set in stone. I used to think he was a lock. But there are so many QB's right now, who are hall worthy. Marsha is a lock. Peyton is a lock. Eli has tied Ben with 2 rings. Only 10 QB's with 2 rings. Raiders QB is only one not in the hall. If Brees or Rodgers get a second, that list will grow and not be as exclusive as it once was.

He has enough money, doesn't need endorsements. As a fan, I need more championships. :herewego:

If you look at the passing stats, He is about the 5th best QB this year. So he has a long way to go. Right now, Peyton would be the MVP again.

He's got a long uphill battle if he wants to get any votes for MVP. He needs to start throwing more TD's. The yards are good, although they could be improved a bit too, but he definitely needs to start throwing for more TD's. He needs a big game where he throws for 4-5 TD's, and he needs to consistently throw for 2-3 TD's every game, with the odd big game thrown in. That will be his only chance.

As for whether it would help his reputation, I doubt it. The people that don't like him probably aren't going to suddenly like him, and the people that do like him are still going to like him. Doubt it will change. He might get some more endorsements though, yes.

He was in that Sportscenter commercial where he was carrying folks out during a fire drill.

Thanks TTF, I think it would have a good effect on his somewhat tarnished reputation and open up more opportunities to him.

You're right I forgot about that one. I was thinking more along the lines of endorsements for national type companies like Payton, Rogers, Eli and Brees do.

The media loves Peyton Manning too much to give Big Ben the MVP.

If Ben's stats are better at the end of the year, I believe he'd get the votes. But Manning is having a great year

So tired of hearing about Peyton. Someone should set him up for some scandalous press with prostitutes and some blow. He is one heck of a smart QB though.

This is one of my all time favorite posts! I despise Peyton and his overblown resume. So what if he's a good individual player on a team in a weak division for most of his career that also has 2 expansion teams. He played atleast 8 games per year in PERFECT conditions and wasn't allowed to be touched without drawing a flag. Compare his playoff record to Ben's and you will be laughing at all the posers that tout him as the "greatest". Let him play behind a line like Ben has and in the conditions that Ben has had too and tell me if he's the greatest. Joe Montana would mop the floor with him and so would Tom Brady. Peyton is nothing more than a REGULAR season stat machine. When the game is on the line I would pick Ben over him ANY day.

Come on BFT, you've got to give Peyton a little more credit than that. I guess we'll see wat kind of bad weather QB he is when the weather turns out in Denver but he's obviously a great QB and would be a success on any team. He's the smartest and most studious QB in the league maybe ever and I'd like to see Ben try to emulate his work ethic when it comes to film study and game prep. Ben is getting better in that category I think, partly due to Todd Haley and his offensive philosophy, but he still has a long way to go to match Peyton or his brother Eli for that matter. Having said that, I do think Ben has a shot at MVP this year if things fall into place. There are very few QBs that I would even think about trading Ben for but Peyton may be one that I'd have to at least consider. Probably wouldn't do it though.
