I heard this on Steeler Depot as a question and neither could answer and neither could I. I thought I would pose this to the group.

Better Career? I think leading tackler and winning 2 Superbowls qualifies as better.

Definitely a tough call, but I think I'd go with Farrior.

Farrior was a durable dependable player who called all the defensive alignments and had a 15 year career, 10 of those years as a steeler, he started 16 games 7 of those years, and started 14 games in 3 of his 10 years here, he was a staple inside calling the plays, cant take nothing from how valuable he was for us, so he gets the nod from me, and he was always reasonable at contract time.....

Farrior. In a couple of those seasons, he was one of the top defensive players in the league. He goes down in the Hall of the Very Good, like Greg Lloyd, Mike Merriweather, and Carnell Lake.

Timmons has a nice, underrated, 10 year Steelers career. He's lived up to his #1 pick value, and I recall thinking he was going to be better than Woodley even though the latter had a faster start to his career.

Timmons is better in coverage in my opinion but overall career it goes to Potsy.

Can I vote a tie? I'm glad both have been Steelers. If I take emotion out I would lean towards Potsy, but only by a sliver. On a side note...TTF, is there any wan you can tell this site that I am spelling Steelers correctly? Drives me nuts! Only word in the entire dictionary that I do know is spelled correctly and your site doesn't recognize it. What kind of show are you running here?

Farrior. Timmons is a good, underrated player, but Farrior was an All Pro caliber stud. One of my top 5 favorite Steelers not from the 70's.

Definitely Farrior. When they brought him in day one he was the play caller and you really missed him if he came off the field.

Plus Farrior was a vocal leader on and of the field....you knew when he was around. Loved superbowl 40 warmups when Farrior was lauding the Bus. Where else would you rather be!!! Here comes the Bus!!! Here comes the Bus!!!:rawk:

This is a tough one for me, as they both are the same types of players and have had the same roles on our defense. By the end of Timmons career he will have the same stat line that Farrior did, as he very close now. LT is behind Farrior in tackles by about 500, but still has a few more good years let in the tank. He has more INTs, one less sack, and 6 less forced fumbles. Potsy was voted all pro once and pro bowl twice. LT was voted 2nd team all pro once and to one pro bowl. But when it comes down to it, Farrior played on a better defense longer, and won two rings. So I lean a little more towards Potsy, but by the end of LTs career I could change my mind. LT still has I think 3-4 good years left so lets get him him some more rings!

I'll never forget seeing Farrior tackle Brian Westbrook at a Steeler v Eagles game I attended. It was one of the best open field tackles I've ever seen.
It wasn't a hard hit or anything, but Westbrook was about as shifty a runner as there was, and their was no one else within 3 yards of them. Farrior stopped him cold.

Farrior was the better down to down, year to year player.

Timmons makes more splash plays though

Farrier, slightly better player, but much more of a vocal leader. He and Peezy led that D.

One distinct deference between the two is Timmons has the ability to chunk his lunch!!! while wearing his helmet through the face mask. :puking 3::matrix0:

    Not even close, it's Farrior.

People seem to forget at Farrior's peak he was one of the best in the league. His best season he was in the Defensive player of the year conversation. Besides he was fantastic in coverage as well. Not saying Timmon's hasn't been a good LB. Just saying you can't disrespect Farrior. Not to mention the rings playing on a top ranked defense for several years.
