I don't like to see anyone get hurt, even players that are doing poorly but this may be a blessing in disguise.

    Certainly can't be any worse.

Sorry, don't have a link. Saw it on my news feed.

Wasn't Berhe supposed to be our big FA pickup this year? Seems like he wasn't very good, even when healthy.

I guess you can say the same thing about Morgan Burnett.

Well, Allen isn't the greatest tackler, hopefully he makes up for it in other areas...

I don't think Berhe was ever seen as a big FA pick up - he has a low salary, very much an ST player.

Burnett was the signing that was meant to upgrade Mitchell.

Correct. Berhe was supposed to just be ST. Injuries forced him onto the field.

Burnett, our big FA pick up has unfortunately been part of the injury bug.

I agree with the OP. I hate to see guys get hurt, but this should make the team better. Allen made some plays on special teams last year and he is a better defensive player than Behre.

I'm still hopeful that Hilton and Burnett will play this week. That should help a little.

Great, he can rot on the bench next to Matthew Thomas because there is no way Tomlin will play him.

I keep hearing Milton Berle &
    Carol Burnett in my head.
That’s not good for a Defense!

I read that Hilton and Burnett are both expected to play this week, so Allen might not even get a hat. I doubt we see him on defense unless somebody gets hurt.

The defense has serious problems, but missing those two was at least part of the issue against Baltimore.

I haven't been all that impressed with Brian Allen as of yet. Hopefully he can change that. So I'm too excited about an already terrible secondary potentially getting worse going against the studly wide receivers of the Atlanta Falcons.

As for Matt Thomas, agree they need to get this kid on the field.

Brian Allen being called up is strictly for special teams. He'll take Behre's place on most of them I'm sure. He did well as a gunner last year.

You hate to see a guy get injured, but I didn't want Berhe playing on defense he's Robert Golden 2.0.

Hard to figure Burnette out, one play he looks like an all-pro and the next lost. I reckon if he stays healthy we'll get the full picture.

Is that somehow worse than what they're currently fielding? :dancing:

Burnett hasn't been healthy. lol we'll know more this week.

I'm guessing we'll see he and Hilton both. Which is huge.

Yeah, no doubt. Burnett is about as solid as they come. He's nothing special, but good at what he does. He reminds me a lot of Joe Haden, actually. Hilton's loss was huge last week.

    Hilton/burnett/haden is a solid secondary.

It is but the depth is just atrocious so a single injury causes way too much chaos. Of course the other issue is lack of ILB coverage ability. Sure do miss Shaz.

allen didnt look bad in preseason. i'd like to see hilton start opposite haden. why not try it. find a guy to play the slot in burns, sutton, sensabaugh. try fort and thomas in the middle. fort had 4 tackles and one of those for loss in a very short amount of time played last game. the guy can run. thomas can run. they can cover too. shake it up.

If they started Hilton, they could just slide him to the slot on third downs. Other teams do that with starting cornerbacks.
