So...conjecture vs conjecture. Short of polling the world's Steelers fans that's how I see it.

Except that you can turn on the TV and see what the talking heads are saying, search the news articles on the internet, etc.

    I don't need to, I'm satisfied with Tim's article.

The big problem with his standard is the standard mantra is that if the goal is playoff wins and a title shot then there needs to be multiple paths to that goal. In the last handful of years it seems like they have only one path and it's derailed shortly after the start of the season and they spend the rest of the time trying desperately to cling to that path and use the standard is the standard mantra to the detriment of the team. Such as the not reinventing the wheel bs with Ben out for the season and duties falling to Mason and Duck. They should have abandoned that path, embraced a new one that uses the talents of the team you have and go after the goal. Instead it's the standard is the standard and nothing changes.

I'm not gonna lie that bringing him back might bring me closer to the dark side but I suppose I'm willing to see what a more experienced Kenny and some upgrades on the o-line do for his offense

The big problem with 'the standard' is it has never been clarified as anything more than words spoken by Tomlin(that I'm aware of). The standard could be 'do just enough to stay employed' for all I know, in which case he's meeting the standard.

I see a link to one Twitter post that says the season was a success, then adds: given the gaps in the current team and the challenges it faced.

That’s not the same thing as celebrating mediocrity, surely?

The TribLive link won’t open for me so that might say more, but I just don’t see this mass of rejoicing acolytes…

Actually if He's brought back....We will see how much He has improved...if any. Hiss play calling in spots did get better.
Thing is....a coach.....like anyone in life....can improve....if He's willing to. I was one of His biggest critics.....Hell I didn't even want Him on the team period.

What kind of “goals” do you want to set for a sports team that you have zero impact on the outcome up. I mean it’s just silly. I have expectations that change based on circumstances and the talent that’s on our roster.

For a guy who demands excellence why in the hell are you sticking around and supporting such a complete loser franchise like the Steelers?

I'm stuck on the words and their definitions at this point. He stated 'many fans', define many. Define mediocrity, celebrating, so forth.
I will say I read some of the twitter responses directed at Tim Benz and more than I expected agreed with him about Tomlin overall. I didn't see much celebrating there.

If things don’t go well with Canada next year I’ll reserve a seat for you brother lol.

As much as I complain obviously I want them to figure it out but I just don’t have much evidence of that being possible. We did beat some crappy teams to end the year which is still improvement but we also still struggled to put up points.

The Steelers Way. I mean it worked 50 years ago it’s not like times change??

On a serious note they are stable and better off than teams that changes coaches like I change underwear. Still think we need a fresh voice/perspective

I think his standard is that no matter what the circumstances are I will not vary my approach and he really doesn't. There are slight variations like Warren this season, I felt there was no way he saw meaningful work seeing how Tomlin has regarded camp phenomenons before and his bell cow belief but he did.

As far as the franchise I think we all know the Standard. It's Superbowl or nothing everything else is considered a failed attempt. They will be a strong ground game and punishing defense as long as a Rooney owns the team and they will uphold the Pittsburgh Steelers shield in a way that reflects their history or they will be traded or cut.

I'm never going to say what the Steelers did this year wasn't good or an accomplishment. But is this the standard? If it is--its-- not Steelers football.

It seems to be his own standard. I know the team/franchise adopted it at some point I just don't remember it ever being actually defined. Coach talk.
