From your mouth to gods ears. I have been saying this for years now. Why the F do both of our safeties play in the box it makes no sense. Why are our lousy DBs jumping routes with no safety help over the top. It happened at least three or four times yesterday. This is why Lebeau has to go ,he either is scheming this asinine strategy or our guys are just playing with their heads up their asses. Either way Lebeau is responsible for not holding these guys accountable.

which brings me to a much bigger point that I've been trying to wrap my brain around. I am really starting to think that some guys have become bigger than the team and are allowed to get away with things others aren't ie Ike ,Troy. I know our secondary sucks but I still feel we can gameplan around it so much better, but not when guys are just doing whatever they want. This D has been built upon guys doing their job and trusting others to do theirs,no one on this D is on the same page. I think accountability is a major factor in our mediocrity. Sorry to jack your thread dobb. but I feel it's all related.

ben had a very poor game, but that particular int. in the endzone was not his fault...... that pass is one that is attempted throughout the league. it's designed for the bigger receivers to go up and fight for the ball... that half ass effort by dhb was the reason that the ball was picked... he barely raised his hands in the air, or even looked up... his effort was laughable and shows why he is a 1st rd. bust.

I've honestly always felt sorta bad for DHB that he was drafted so highly. That was more about the stupidity of Al Davis than anything else. I don't consider him some great receiver and really he has poor hands so to expect him to go up and win a fight for the ball is a dumb play call from Haley in my opinion. I would much rather see Bryant back there fighting for that ball.

You didn't brother... I agree whole heartedly. Accountability seems to be in shambles. Guys out of position everywhere and only a couple doing their damn job. We're suspect against the run, our middle is soft, and the top is constantly being ravaged. We play a pick your poison defense with the personnel we have and unfortunately we choose every available option on the menu. Time for people to man up and live with consequences, but what I'm seeing is not remotely in the area of sound football period.

Play your safeties deep! Jam the damn wr's at the line, and clog the running lanes! We have enough speed at ILB to win a few match ups here and there where the middle is concerned. It's sound football and its soooooooo basic... But ya know, it might just work. This zone crap is killing em.

Maybe be we don't have the personnel or the talent... I'm sure we don't, but we ain't got the folks to do whatever the hell they're being asked to do in the first place at this point in time so why the hell not just play poor mans basic high school football and see what happens on D?!?!?!?!

    Here's the deal...

This defense has been coming out and making stops early. They're not going to do it the whole game. We know this. It is what it is. So, this high powered offense needs to start scoring in step with defensive stops to put the opposing team at a disadvantage score-wise. This will cause the opposing offense to play into the hands of LeBeau and the defense.

This is the strategy the team runs by when it wins. When the offense can't score and they have to rely on Suisham and the field goal unit to put up 3, then the opposing team can stay in the game. Haley, Ben and the offense need to score. Period. They had 4 possessions in the first half before NO scored a TD. The result: 6 points. That's abysmal. They should have had NO down 10-0, at least.

Paragraph 2 hits the nail on the head. The D seems to be poorly organized, and DL must be beside himself. I can't believe DL is stupid, but he must not have the players with the brains to run the D. People out of position, poor tackling, and blown assignments. Scary and often looks like a train wreck.

A lot of how Troy plays depends on the FS knowing what he's going to do, or adapting around his movement. Mitchell just isn't doing that right now. Whether he can do with a year or so under his belt is somewhat of a moot point, because a) it's unclear how much longer Troy will be playing and b) the league will literally run out of ref's flags if we keep Mitchell as a starter.

LOL... On the 4 real DHB came off clean and he drew both Safeties he had both of them beat. He was running the route the correct way it was a arrow straight to the corner and it was working correct until Ben threw the ball 15 yards to far inside.

If Ben had thrown to the corner DHB was wide open . The WR did the correct thing he was running to the open area , not sure if Ben even saw the other Safety ?

I have been saying this the whole time Haley has been in Pittsburgh.

Also agree with you about Ben on Sunday. He was bad. Period.

Wow ...Where to start ? The beginning I guess ...Yes a lot of Teams do attempt that pass , but a lot of Teams run it to all sorts of players . The space was at the corner of the end zone and that's exactly where DHB was heading after he smoked 1 safety.

He was leaving the other Safety when he saw the Safety stop because Ben had thrown the ball where the Safety was not where DHB was or was going .

Now to his effort ...His effort was great he ran by the entire defense and was getting ready to look for the ball when he noticed the FS was calling a fair catch 15 yards away . Again if the ball was thrown correctly ,,,,meaning to the open spot then DHB was going exactly where he was supposed to go...

Exactly. All the pieces are in place on offense there have been no major injuries therefore there are no excuses. Arguably the best RB and WR in the league,a very good TE who can also block and enough of a supporting cast to make this O go. Sorry but it's on the QB to make it happen. There was always the excuse of no running game,I don't think you can say that anymore and the line has been vastly improved compared to what it once was. The league now is about scoring points the rules have dictated that defenses can no longer be dominant like they used to be. It's put up (points )or shut up....

Long and the short of it: we should have been up by 17 or 21 in the first quarter. Their offense then becomes more manageable. It may still mean they mount a comeback in the 2nd, but at least the offense has some rhythm then.

Can't play the safeties deep and play the run with this DL. The DL is just not that good
