I wonder how much Ben's repaired elbow has affected his deep balls. My recollection is that they all are overthrown, so I wonder if he is stronger than he used to be, or not being in pain really lets him fling it. Or he overestimates the speed of his receivers. I am sure they practice those during the week, but in game all seem to be thrown too far, which is odd for someone with his experience.

Ben said as much several weeks ago. He said he's not used to the strength and he's still adjusting.

I wonder if anyone could get a stat for Bens passes over say 30 yards? It can’t be pretty!

This is the best start to a thread I have seen on here. Bravo. As far as Ben's deep balls, his strength looks fine, but his accuracy has been off, but this is the NFL, it isn't normal for teams to throw 4 or 5 deep balls a game to get those. Usually lucky if you get a couple. As good as Claypool is, he isn't Randy Moss. However, Ben's accuracy on out routes to the corners has been very good. I'll take that over being good with the deep balls. Balls. HAHAHAHAHAH.

    Are drive killers

yes. They’re exciting when completed. However, those completions are few and far between now. We are much better off sticking to short high percentage passes and moving down the field methodically. Even if we don’t score at least we should be able to flip the field.

The Patriots with Brady were masters of the short dink and dunk up the field. However if you remember in big games against us over the years he would always complete a few deep throws at the right time to stretch out the D and get defenses from packing in tight.

Is there any way you (or an Admin?/Moderator?) could change the last word of thread title to "passes" or something less LOL-inducing instead?

Since the running game sucks, the only way Ben can penetrate the D, is going deeper with his balls.

Yep, I've said this many times in previous seasons. Sometimes you just need to get the first down. Once in awhile a long pass can be great, but when you're wasting opportunities to just get a first down and keep going the O on the field, it's not helpful.

The old 3rd and 1 empty set WR fly with a 2% chance of being completed play?

No wonder we can't have any damn women conversate with this board anymore. Everyone wants to talk about Ben's deep balls and RB's who can beat off defenders.

a few rules to live by:

    1. never question another man's deep balls
    2. if two men are discussing deep balls, they should never make eye contact.

I'm starting to question myself. Seems even with my limited ability to get on here, I somehow manage to fondle my way into some interesting conversations. Must be because I want to see our team ball out this year? I will see myself out now!

I think they are needed to keep the defense honest.

My college roommate came back one day after getting an army physical and proudly announced “I have an asymmetrical left testicle”. Somehow, I still can’t get that out of my memory.

Ben has never been really good at it ...He seems to not put enough air under them...This messes up the timing and doesn't give the WR any time to adjust ..We literally used to train QB'S with a bucket and a stop watch , I guess thats where the term drop it in a bucket came from..
The stop watch was used for hang time our QB'S got much better ..Russel Wilson is very good his balls are rainbows which always gives his WR a chance to ajust or a chance for a PI to be called..

So Ben needs to stop aiming it and just throw it to a spot with some air under it and let the WR make the adjustment and get to the ball..
