Bengals Gameday Thread

Last nightI decided to take a look at a Cincy fan forum (go-bengals.com) & their Gameday thread. I sat and read all 1000+ posts and was absolutely disgusted. I couldn't believe some of the things they were saying.
At first, it was kind of the same as ours without the censors. (They call Big Ben "Little Jen". That's kinda funny.) Then they basically started saying about how bad McCarron sucked- but that they expect it. It wasn't just a few of them, almost every one of them started to give up on them before the half was even over. A few people even left the thread. They even started arguing & telling each other to f**k off.
Then Shazier hit Bernard & all hell broke loose. The ref they bring in to explain plays said that Bernard wasn't a defenseless player so that's why Ryan wasn't penalized. Either way, Ryan wasn't trying to hurt Bernard.After Ben got hurt, they said things like, "Lololol f**k you Raplisberger", "Great Job Tez, break his f-ing arm." They said Burfict is the "best defensive player the Bengals ever had." They also said that someone should give Burfict a medal & that they hoped Ben never came back. One guy said that he won't be happy until "we career somebody." They said they hope the "Stealers" plane crashes. They loved it when the fans were throwing stuff at Ben as he was being carted off. Then they went back to saying terrible things about McCarron & each other. They called US dirty. Said DeCastro & Shazier were "headhunters". On the last drive, someone said that they wanted a "pick 6 or a Steeler on a backboard."
When AB got hurt, someone said that he "takes solace in watching Antonio Browns lifeless body flopping to the turf." Then he said that he hoped AB would never be the same & that he was going to pleasure himself to the video of Ben being carted off!!! Despicable. Someone even said that AB faked his injury. WTF? A few of them blamed the Bengals for the loss but most of them blamed everyone else. They even said they wanted to hurt us, the fans.
I know we get frustrated & we say things we're not always proud of in the heat of the moment. But they're just disgusting, horrible, classless people to say some of those things.

 

Philadelphia west. I never heard, were there any fights in the stands?

 

Yeah, I won't lump all Cincy fans in this category, but the vast majority of posters on the bengals board are just awful human beings.

 

From another thread on that fan board:

"There is some perception about this team that makes most fans not want to touch us with a 10 foot pole."

Gosh, can't imagine what that perception may be, and how far off it is.

 

There was a report of an arrest for a fan urinating on someone. Looks like the steelers fans got the worst of it.

Someone posted about primati sending sandwiches and i was thinking i wouldnt even urinate on either of those guys if they were on fire, let alone give them a sandwich

I've had a look over a few Bengals forums before. A lot of it is down to the forum members. I think the end of the gameday thread on one (may even have been the same site) returned to some analysis of their team, rather than vitriol against us. Others are just pure hatred at the moment, and not expressed in particularly intelligent ways.

There was one that said he got an erection from seeing AB knocked out, which was... interesting.

But likewise, there are Steeler messageboards where the sentiments can be a bit more tasteless than the ones on here. There are idiots in every fanbase. Just a shame that Cincinnati seem to have more than their fair share.

 

I've been looking at a few Raven forums lately and what I found was quite surprising. Many of them were actually routing for us while the ones that didn't jumped ship as soon as they saw bungle fans throwing trash at Ben.

One of them questioned if our rivalry with the Bungles exceeded what we have with the Ravens and someone had this to say:

"The Ravens/Steelers rivalry was based great plays from great players. It was old-fashioned smash-mouth football with two QBs that could lead their teams. Bengals/Steelers is nothing but a bunch of cheap-shot thugs (Bengals side). Bengals can't even win a playoff game whereas the Ravens were a real threat to win it all.

There is a certain amount of mutual respect in Ravens/Steelers. There is zero respect in Bengals/Steelers from either side."

Someone quoted him by saying:

"I agree with this entirely. You always get a few bad apples on any team or have even decent guys take cheap shots occasionally, but I can't remember a game under the Harbaugh/Tomlin Era that flat out disgraceful like this. For me, the icing on the cake came when they threw bottles at Ben while he was being carted off. It's at that point that I actually switched rooting interests and started pulling for the Steelers a bit."

The rest was just about how dirty Burfict and their classless fans were.

I obviously don't like the Ravens. I don't respect Ray Lewis or Ray Rice & Joe Flacco scares me with his dead eyes. But they have a point. I am a little surprised the Ravens fans were rooting for us. If it was the other way around, I would've rooted for the Ravens. They have to deal with the thug Bengals too so they get it. I never thought the Steelers & Ravens would agree on anything- let alone their fans.
