I didn't know that Ben could potentially become the all time passing leader tonight, breaking Bradshaws record. Just heard that on the NFL network.

Good luck to him. Hope he doesn't push too hard to try to break it and have a bit of a stinker. Players have been known to do that in all sports. They try too hard instead of letting it come naturally.

He needs like 300 yards, right? Should get it. My question is, would you rather see that, or another solid outing from Mendenhall? I'd take the latter over the former. We all know Ben'll get it. I'd like to see Rashard continue his return to form.

I think he does it tonight. Doesn't sound like Bradshaw will be too impressed. He's got Ben & Brees in his sights this week.

As much as I love Ben's play - he needs 2 more super bowls before we start comparing him to TB.

Yeah, he needs just 287 passing yards to break the record. Was 300 even before Mendy's lateral was changed.

I'd say it's closer than people think. While Ben had the running game and defense earlier in his career, he has neither now.

Yeah what's up with Bradshaw, give the guys their due, Ben's not really making a big deal about this record, guess Terry needs his air time.

I wouldn't mind seeing both. :) The Titans D is ranked 25th in passing and 28th in rushing, so both shouldn't be much of a problem.

About the passing record, Mark Kaboly of the Trib said~

"You will never guess who informed Roethlisberger that he was about to break Bradshaw's record-
    ME!

Yes, I was the one who informed Ben Roethlisberger that he was about to become the Steelers' all-time leading passer.

It was a week ago that I got Roethlisberger 1-on-1 to ask him about him close to passing Terry Bradshaw on the franchise's passing list, and he really had no clue.

So I asked quarterback coach Randy Fichtner ... and he had no clue. So I asked Byron Leftwich ... and he had no clue.

Some say it is all a show that Ben says he doesn't care about stats. I am here to tell you that Roethlisberger really doesn't care about record and stats. Trust me."

Another smaller potential milestone for tonight's game is- with one more reception of 25 or more yards, Mike Wallace will pass Plaxico Burress (41) for the second most 25 yard receptions by a Steelers’ player, dating back to 1991. Not an important stat by any means, but someone might find it interesting. Heath has a couple milestones on the horizon as well.

Oh, I think both is a very distinct possibility as well (really, the offense should murderlate 'em tonight). I find the 'Ben just cares about stats thing' interesting. It isn't something I've heard too much of in the media (outside of just this week)...is this a criticism that is regional?

pretty sure the article said Ben DOES NOT care about stats. I have to believe thats true. I think the only way a player is even aware that he may be close to a stat is if the media brings it to light. I know when I played the game, once the game started, stats didnt even come to mind.

Who here thinks that Bradshaw would rather have a root canal done than to watch another record of his be broken by Big Ben?

Unimportant stats are always interesting to me.

If Burress is 2nd, who has the most? I want to say Swann, but would wager it was Lipps...

The most was Hines with 81. This is from '91 on.

Aha - got confused as to whether the 1st was set in '91. Long day at work...

Bens going to break a record?

nah. im sure its all because of the Steelers defense.

somehow someway Ben breaking a record will be diminished by someone here.

i sure hope that when Ben finally retires the Steelers already have a super bowl winning caliber qb on the roster. since most Steelers fans either have forgotten or are to young to know the pain of a 25 year absence of a super bowl win while suffering with mediocre qbs between Bradshaw and Ben.

Bradshaw was far from the best qb in his day, but he won 4 super bowls and i will take that. Ben is also far from being the best qb in his time, but he has 2 super bowls and still has time to win more.

i can live with not having the best qb on my team because its all about score board baby. the last time i checked the Steelers have more rings than any other team.

i for one am very happy that Ben is our qb. this team wouldnt have won 2 super bowls and been to 3 since 05 if they didnt have Ben. over the 25 year span between super bowl wins they had all types of qb's. pocket passers, running qb's, slash, oak trees and even a guy that forgot what team he played for in a super bowl and what did that get them? squat!

Ben and Terry are never though of when it comes to the greats, but all they did was win.

I'm glad for Ben but the game has changed so much since Bradshaw played. With his arm and the way teams have to play pass defense there's no telling how many yards he'd have if they played like this when he was in his prime. I'd love to see a young Bradshaw with Wallace they would would be a lethal combination in today's game.

Let's get this milestone out of the way and then get back to the real important number for Ben. His third and the team's 7th Super Bowl.
