Not harder to defend. Just harder to understand why some people can't see a PR move coming at them like a mack truck. Blind much...[/quote]

Another stranger who thinks he knows Ben better then his family and friends. Conspiracy nut huh?[/quote:21s9swwo]

And I could spin the mirror back at you. You don't know me at all or even Ben for that matter.

Let's be clear, I believe every word of this piece. It serves nothing to think otherwise. But, if you don't think this is something to balance the scales then if i'm conspiritorial you are gullible.

If you aren't then why don't we read about every star athelete that doles out an autograph?

No big deal, just calling it as I see it man.

    PS- I don't get into conspirasies...[/quote:21s9swwo]

Any spin you put on it is totally self serving, you'll just bend it to fit your beliefs. I don't claim to know Ben at all, but I think even you would agree that Colon does. So rather then take 3rd party stories and gossip as the gospel, I'll put more stock in what his friends say. If you think Ben has gotten married, went back to school to get his degree and is having a child as a PR stunt and a way to balance the scales, I'm sorry but you are a conspiracy nut of the highest order. There is nothing even remotely gullible about it, the fact that you think so is just mind boggling [/quote:21s9swwo]

OK you win. It's just another circular conversation. Especially when you deviate from answering direct questions like autographs by other athletes. I never once said anything about his finishing his degree as a PR move.

You are lucky to not know a real conspiracy nut of any order. It's obvious because otherwise you'd know how inaccurate you are about me being one. I don't believe in afterlives, ghosts, big foot, cheebocabra (sp), the numberr 13, astrology or the government blowing up the pentagon. I'm on the fence about a 2nd shooter, so maybe I have tendencies.

Of course I win :dancing: And I thought that was a rhetorical question, it's also inane and grasping at straws and warrants no answer. I mean seriously, that's your argument? Also, I don't know if you ever mentioned his degree as a PR move specifically but you have on more then one occasion indicated that Bens efforts to improve himself have been nothing but PR moves. Funny how you came into this thread with a juvenile joke and not a single positive word about Bens turn around.

    Improve himself.... Turn around....?

By being a normal kind of team mate and signing autographs... You're bar is too low.

It's good to read this kind of stuff. Ben had a very humbling experience and realizes now how important his character is to this organization and these fans, but more importantly to his family and to himself.

Oftentimes it takes something unfortunate to make us realize we need to make a change in their life. How easy life would be if you didn't have to screw up or make a bad decision in order to learn a lesson or make a change for the better in your life. Obviously, we don't know the details, and never will, about Ben's interactions with his accusers. Opinions and speculation run wild based on Ben's prior reputation as a heavy drinker and womainzer just as they do on the opposite viewpoint where people seem to be certain that a drunk college student saw an opportunity to exploit a superstar after a series of events that may or may not have been consenting. It's unfair to assume either one as we truly do not know the entire story. To me, the fact that there was no DNA evidence to corroborate the accuser's story (in Georgia case) and warrant formal charges, shows that there is something to question. Therefore, I figured it was not my place to automatically conclude that Ben was guilty when a team of legal experts could not do that themselves. Likewise, it was not fair to use his past against him. On the other side, it was enough to question his judgment and wonder why he continuously put himself in these situations that were a result of poor decisions. The logical conclusion, as a third party, was to not pretend to know what happened, but to judge him on how he learned and conducted himself going forward.

The whole situation seems to have made Ben realize that perception is reality and that he needed to live his life in a way that made those around him, including Steelers fans, proud. He has done a great job of that in the last 2 years and I believe that is all we can ask for.

Dude, I totally get, that he could be trying to make extra or new efforts in his life to be a better (normal) person. He desreves a nod for that. Fine. I.m no friggin saint, but I don't have the salery, contractual obligations and expectations he does. He does a great job on the field and I seperate my praise for him there. But, calling out people who don't lump his personality with his play is wrong.

Trust me, I used to get all over people that called him a drama queen who embellishes injuries and his diva rep all the time. And still will in that respect. The dude is beast. I even defend the Nevada incident. He lost me after GA. though... People who don't respect that can go pound sand.

The grandstanding he gets for saying excuse me after every fart is nausiating. He has (thus far) strung one and a half offseasons together without any neg off the field news. Alert the media!!!

I won't kiss his butt for that until he puts together a string longer than the 3 bad ones in the negative columb.

Actually, I didn't call you out, Colon did. And You and Shaner jumped into this thread all your own, I never mentioned either of you by name. I just agreed with Colon, that nobody says boo when Ben is doing good, they just pile on when he's doing bad.

There's not a chance in hell I am going to respect your opinion on the GA incident, and I'm not pounding sand either, sounds abrasive  I think your stance it's grossly unfair, you're playing judge jury and executioner despite the fact there was so little evidence it couldn't even warrant a charge and if it's just because he wasn't a gentleman, well then you are just being ridiculously judgmental. We've already beaten the GA discussion to death though, neither of us are budging on that :beathorse:

I'm glad you find the praise nauseating, now you know how the people who support Ben have felt with all the idiotic criticism of him and huge media attention he gets for blowing his nose in public.
