I'm all for it. That's when Ben is at his best usually. Always took Arians till the 2nd half when you where down a couple scores to use it.

The no huddles success is probably on par with the huddle offense.

ben was also the one that opted out of runs all the time, yet BA always was the one blamed for it. ;-)

I don't have a problem with it but I am excited to see our huddle offense with a competent play-caller.

I never understood why we didn't do no huddle more last year considering past success. I wonder if Tomlin told BA to not run the no huddle last year.

They talked about that in an interview last season. Basically they said all of the injuries along the OL were holding them back a bit.

It is ultimately BA's fault. That's the way it goes in sports. BA can't let Ben keep checking into the wrong plays, and if he notices Ben is checking out of run plays all the time, he needs to put a stop to it. He also needs to teach Ben why plays work and why plays don't work so that Ben can check into the correct play.

BA was never a big X's and O'x type guy though, whereas Haley is.

but will the student want to learn? i'm sure fitchner and anderson and whipple tried to teach ben, it was less about BA teaching him then those guys. ben didn't seem to catch that concept. ben did what ben wanted more often then not. do you really think haley is going to change ben? what's he going to do, bench him?

I too am concerned about the pupil and not the teacher,#7 has got to buy into what
Todd Haley will be teaching. If not here we go back to drawing plays in the dirt.
With the recent drafting of David Decastro, this should give the Steelers more leverage
in their play calling ability. If Ben will listen this offense could be outstanding.

If there were any coach in the league that would bench Ben, it's Haley. Haley will chew him out when needed, whereas BA seemed very cool and collected at all times.

That's because BA recognized the fact that Ben could be a total knucklehead on one play and then do something totally amazing on the very next play. When you have a guy like that behind center you better be able to keep your emotions in check. I think Haley will bring more discipline to Ben's game but at the same time I also think Haley's probably going to have to exercise more patience than he might be used to. One thing's for sure it'll be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

The only thing for sure is there is alot of speculation on both sides in this thread. Fact is, we don't know who was responsible but I'll agree with Shaner, even if it were Ben, it's on BA to do something about it. And as long as we are speculating, I don't think Fichtner or BA tried to change Ben, I think they were all in love with sandlot football because they actually practice it during drills.

...preferably not to a bubble screen.

I think the only time we see Ben release quicker is if he's feeling fragile. He knows (or thinks) that he can likely shed the first hit, which is part of the problem here.

And to be fair, a large part of our success in crux moments in recent seasons has come from the kind of broken down sandlot plays. So to that extent, it worked. Problem is, the reason we were in those crux moments was usually lack of attention to the other parts of the offensive game.

are we talking true no huddle or the muddle huddle that they have been doing for the last few years?

I'd say a true no huddle with a tiny mix of muddle

You have to mix in the muddle huddle or the defense finds themselves tiring out too quickly if it's not consistent with long scoring drives.

When the ball comes out of Ben's hands faster the interceptions rise. You play to his strength and let him roll and make something happen, and good things follow. Why take away what makes him dangerously effective?

He changed the league with that style many of you gripe about and there are a slew of young players wanting to play like him now. I want to see more of it and from the no huddle is even better!

The Reason for the lack of no huddle the past 2 years is because the OL could not be trusted.

The funniest thing about this article is if you actually listen to the podcast nowhere is it said that we'll be seeing lots of no huddle.
