A few minutes ago, Chris Mortensen of ESPN released the best news us Steelers fan could have hoped more. Ben may just be back for the Ravens game next Sunday. Mortensen states that Ben is out of the woods with his rib injury and that doctors think there is no longer a risk of further injury of the dislocated rib. It also states that Ben will start soft tossing a football early this week and it will come down to his range of motion and tolerance of pain.

Have the Steelers finally caught a break? Can we now extract revenge on Baltimore for 3 straight wins vs Pitt and expose the weak Baltimore secondary that it really is? These answers will take another week to be answered but for now we must take care of business and beat the Cleveland Browns with 3rd string QB Charlie Batch. :herewego::herewego!:

On the bright side, when he does come back I bet there are more swing passes and check downs in the gameplan. Quick slants and crosses also, that's when our O is at its best. "Get rid of the football Ben."

man tdot, i have mixed emotions about this. there is still the shoulder. ben thinks he can play better than he actually can hurt sometimes. i'd sure like to have him healthy down the stretch and into the PO's then one game and hurt again worse. we would really have gained nothing but one win that way. i know they are important at this point, but if he doesn't play well because of it and gets hurt worse, how can they justify it for one game? i hope he can, but that's pushing it i think.

Exactly what I have been saying. The Ravens sure is a tough game to jump back into the mix. If he is out of the woods as far as the danger goes, then great but a shoulder injury is kind of tough to play QB with, so there's still that to be concerned about, how effective will he be.

Well there you have it! If "the doctor" says he's good to go, I'm all for it

I hope Charlie wins today, then start him next week, with Ben as backup. If Charlie struggles, put Ben in. That would fire up the offense and give a big boost, but don't risk Ben unless you have to.

I had a sense that the injury wasn't as serious as everyone was reporting. Drama drama drama. Indeed, the type of shoulder separation Ben suffered has degrees of severity, but Ben's was most definitely on the lower end: the fact that he's going to throw this week is proof of it.

Let's hope he's ready to go.
